Hi, I have my VSE, WAFV, ATAVT and 2 hand cordination for avanti train driver at opc in couple of weeks and I really prefer any type of information which is helpfull. I am a new member here and will really appreciate help of any type specially for VSE as I know nothing about it.. please helpI will have my VSE this week, on the e mail they didn't specified how mutch time I should complete the exercises. So far I can complete it in 3 minutes without mistakes.
how did you find it ? i am about to do mine, anyone know roughly how long they will take to update you once you completed your VSE?I will have my VSE this week, on the e mail they didn't specified how mutch time I should complete the exercises. So far I can complete it in 3 minutes without mistakes.
The hardest is the third test ,they didn't mention the time they need unfortunately.how did you find it ? i am about to do mine, anyone know roughly how long they will take to update you once you completed your VSE?
Thank you for the answer.VSE is part of the enhanced test. You ‘should’ be able to apply to a TOC that only requires National/Standard.
You can always call the opc to clarify
Did you do your VSE at home or at the OPC?The hardest is the third test ,they didn't mention the time they need unfortunately.

I did the VSE and unfortunately I didn't pass the test,I'd like to know if it's possible to apply for other companies straightaway or i have to wait 1 year.
At homeDid you do your VSE at home or at the OPC?
Ahaha,do i have to ask if they made a mistake?Ah speak to OPC it might not be registered as it’s part of the sorting process and you have to redo it supervised if you progress.
Just trying to throw a little positivity but obviously might still be a fail life but 100% worth asking them
At this point it should just be a sifting tool and shouldn’t count towards a general life but does for one at Chiltern from my observations of others here.At home
On the e-mail is specified just i have to wait at least 1 year if I want to apply again for this position,is it true that I can apply for other companies that using normal standards or i need to wait 1 year?when i received the e-mail with the exercise the second test was slightly different. At this point it should just be a sifting tool and shouldn’t count towards a general life but does for one at Chiltern from my observations of others here.
Yes. I have said from what’s been said here previously You need to wait one year for Chiltern. But other companies you are fine.On the e-mail is specified just i have to wait at least 1 year if I want to apply again for this position,is it true that I can apply for other companies that using normal standards or i need to wait 1 year?when i received the e-mail with the exercise the second test was slightly different.
If you did it at home, it usually doesn't count towards your lives because the OPC tests that count usually have to be supervised by one of their teams. .At home
Thank you for the answer, normally how many attempts do you have with chiltern railways?I'm living in Milton keynes so what OPC should I check? If you did it at home, it usually doesn't count towards your lives because the OPC tests that count usually have to be supervised by one of their teams. .
If you do them at home it's usually just a sifting tool.
That being said, you have failed part of the process with Chiltern so you'll have to wait a year but that doesn't mean you can't apply for anyone else.
You would lose an attempt with Chiltern. Not with any other TOC.I can't answer that, as I have no idea.
Being as it's a sifting tool I don't know if they keep records of that or whether you can just keep applying but they'll probably go by OPC rules and make you wait a year before you can apply again.
But home tests aren't usually an OPC fail so you haven't lost a life as far as I'm aware so unless you have failed an actual test before you still have all your lives.
Which means you can keep applying for any other TOC/FOC that you wish.
Take a look at WMT for Bletchley, if you are in MK then you are well within the travel time. They don’t use the VSE so you shouldn’t have any issues applying.Thank you for the answer, normally how many attempts do you have with chiltern railways?I'm living in Milton keynes so what OPC should I check?
Thanks, definitely I will apply tomorrowTake a look at WMT for Bletchley, if you are in MK then you are well within the travel time. They don’t use the VSE so you shouldn’t have any issues applying.

yes these all are paper based, group bourdon is finding 4 dots on a paper having 5 parts each part consists of like 20-22 lines accuracy and speed matters, trp1b is the memory test they give you a sheet to read for like 5 mint after that they take it from you let you sit for 2 mint and give you 18 MCQs to solve from the passage(they will take that sheet back) you should remenber all the key points, TRP2 is is the sounds and symbol consists of 3 parts in part one you have to count low beats there will be two beats high and low you have to count low ones in part 2 you have to circle the the matching symbols on a sheet in 45 sec, part three there will be just one beat you have to count and aswell as circle the symbols, and there is a dial and lever you have to solve like 43 mcqs in 8 mint they tell you everything about it and give you 3 practice questions in all the tests. hope you find it helpfulHi, can anyone guide me what to expect for Stage 1 OPC centre test. Will it be paper or computer based test. I have the following test to be done at OPC centre
1)Group Bourdon: Will it be always 4 dots to cross.
2)Tea-OCC
3)TRP1b
4)TRP2
Will all these be paper based.
Do you have any practice material for VSE or any near to the acctual test material I can find online you know of??I also did the VSE with Chiltern last week at home and struggled like the other poster, I made a few mistakes on the last one however I have not received a failure e-mail yet? does that mean I have passed this stage?
My concern is that I struggled focusing on two processes at the same time for only 30 minutes so even if I did pass, It’s made me start doubting whether train driving is really for me, considering the reality is handling multiple processes at speed constantly hours. Anyone else doubt themselves on the road to this?
