It was a jolly related to funding for the Portishead reopening. Wouldn't be surprised if a little route learning took place too though.

The issue appears to be Berrylands Jn. This appears as a timing point in all Up Fast trains towards Waterloo, however RailMiles doesn't seem to know where it is as any search to or from Berrylands Jn just gives an error. Must admit I can't see Berrylands Jn. at all - My rail atlas (S.K. Baker)...

There is one in a recent railway magazine but inaccurate, I'm not saying they have printed incorrect information, but there has been a significant development since, this has been confirmed by someone apparently connected to this. We'll just have to wait and see.
I am on the HST this weekend, which I'm looking forward to. It's an interesting routing tomorrow as the Marches line is closed north of Hereford. So the tour is taking the Malvern line and going around Birmingham to get to Shrewsbury. Looks like leg stretches at Penrith and Perth. Hopefully the second day to Kyle will go smoothly, I know there were problems with the last one.
Ive seen a post today saying that the first of 4 LSL Blue Pullman HST's has started the fitting of ETCS, do we know if any other LSL locos are in planning for it to be fitted (I know 55022 is already)? I would assume that a couple of 47's/57's would be an early priority and I think everyone would like to see plans for steam, maybe the A2 as they could take lessons learned from the A1SLT?

Other than the Class 43s, I’m not aware that there are plans (or even designs) for other ’heritage’ locomotives to be fitted with ETCS.

001 is shown as at CREWE DMD on TOPS but this is most likely incorrect and 73002 is 'OFF TOPS'

Last time I saw 73002 was at Eastleigh Works, I think the plan was for it to go to Margate.
002 won’t be returning and as you say, is eventually due to go to Margate. It’s only have a protracted cosmetic restoration, Merseyrail took most of what it wanted years back leaving largely just an empty shell with a lump of concrete inside it.
It was a right mess last time I saw it, who's paying for this cosmetic restoration and other costs? I think it was moved by road as well, is it volunteers or a fund?
Yes 73001 is active on the Ecclesbourne railway.

No, all LSL. But understandably they have other priorities which obviously diverts time and funding away (eg prioritising keeping the mainline fleet running over static locos).

Yes, that would have been the outward journey. On the return journey we passed the Royal Scotsman there at Strathcarron so your photo would have been very different. Incidentally, check out the message about the Men's Club displaying on the departure screen. I noticed that at every station on the Kyle line and it intrigued me, as I've not seen it anywhere else.

Yes it was a different view when crossing the Royal Scotsman, but the Pullman still looked great...
ScotRail are, I believe, charity supporters of Andy's Man Club and this message has appeared in the last week or so. Makes a change from the overnight message about how to contact the Samaritans though!

I know not strictly fleet updates but I thought this was the most appropriate thread. Does anybody know what’s going on at Upperby? Looking at the difference between Apple and google maps it seems a number of tracks have been relaid and reballasted (See photos). I also commented above that in a recent video I saw there appears to be a steel structure going up. Is this becoming a fully fledged depot again or just seeing a little bit of love? (I’m from Suffolk so it’s not exactly down the road that I can pop and have a look)
LSL now operate Carlisle Upperby and have been in the process of rebuilding a shed there. Whether or not this is simply to provide covered storage or another but smaller Crewe I don’t know, but it’s all part of their plan for the site.
