A great chat in a local supermarket car park, with the friendly owner of this glorious SAAB 900 S (low pressure turbo). He'd bought it in Cornwall and, whilst it is mechanically sound, it's earmarked for some body TLC.

I just saw a 1902 Deckert 8hp Two-seater in Cambridge. This is a picture of the same car, from Wikimedia commons:

Bonhams sold it for £66,400 in 2011

That Peugeot van is a real rarity. It looks like it’s been made out of cardboard boxes.

January 1972 registered Volkswagen camper, parked next to me this morning. This is a late-registered T2 (1967-1971), as the T2b (post 640) superceded it in 1972.

Here's a T2 crew-cab (3-door) pickup variant, 1970. I posted this back on 2-Nov last year - but it makes for an interesting comparison of early T2 body styles.

Chris Evans’ first car was one of those (at least that’s what he said on Top Gear), and he doesn’t live that far fromDunsfold…

Tell me about it.

Living in Horsham, we often whizzed (sort of) through Godalming and the surrounding areas and regularly got more than the usual amount of attention. Took us a little while to realise why. :D

Very clean-looking Renault 5 GT Turbo spotted at the Hardgate shopping precinct yesterday (26th April). H-plate, so August 1990-July 1991.

If I were to go for a French 80s/90s hot-hatch, this is what I'd go for if I couldn't get my hands on a 205 GTi.

Upthread I posted a very tidy Mercedes W124 300CE coupe. It's "uncle" - the W123 saloon - is catching sunshine near my local M&S at the mo. Registered August 1982. Stunning car.
Second image does open correct way up!

Two old British sports cars seen today:

20260428_101136.jpg
It's a resident, but usually hides under a fitted cover. The chrome bumpers, grille and (I think) front wings are a retrofit, since by S plate it would have been built with US-spec 5mph black rubber bumpers. Apart from the age, the other giveaway is the ride height - the suspension had to be raised by an inch or so to get the bumpers to the required level. The rear wheel arches were squared off to disguise this slightly. (Many years ago I had a 1977/R plate Midget). I'm not sure what's happened to the bonnet hinges though!

1966/D plate Lotus Elan, apparently on a shopping trip. I don't know whether that was an original factory colour, but it looked like quite a recent repaint.
