Unless the trees have been cut, then the 45 will likely be curtailed again.

If they did it with Glenlockheart then they could do the same with Heriott Watt surely, not that I see the 32 being double decker anytime soon but for the 45 at least getting diverted.

Who owns the trees? The council has the powers to force land owners to deal with overhanging vegetation
I'm not sure if it is permitted to cut them at this time of year anyway as wildlife will likely be nesting in them.

I've been thinking about what is currently the City network in East Lothian. The 26 goes along Links Road in Port Seton every 12 minutes but misses out a lot of the houses on Alder Road and Long Craigs. You've then got the Seton Sands holiday park which gets a very frequent, if slow, service west to Edinburgh but no service at all heading east towards the coastal villages and North Berwick.
I guess my questions, if anyone knows the answers, are 1: why is there such a frequent service along Links Road in Port Seton but no Edinburgh service near the houses at the south of the town (except for the X26)? Wouldn't it have been better, when the 26 was removed from Tranent, to have a branch taking the X26 route and terminating at the Alder Road roundabout? And 2: why are there no services from the tourist accommodation at Seton Sands to the touristy villages of Aberlady and Gullane and to North Berwick?

SN13 BCZ, former number 4, will be picked up by the Highland Council on Wednesday and taken to Volvo for preparation. The other two are now back from Volvo and are having their bandit screens removed.

How many Lothian vehicles have fleet numbers on the roof?

I was in a high building on Friday and saw one of the 11 plates, from memory 378, had its number in foot-high black letters on the roof towards the rear of the vehicle.

None of the other Lothian vehicles I saw from above had similar…

Back in the early 90s, in the LRT era, two Olympians had roof fleetnumbers - 804 on its front dome and 808 on its roof panels at the front of the bus.

Was following 796 this morning and couldn't believe how the rear destination display was so faded as to be almost unreadable.

That should not be the case on a vehicle less than a year old.

(When I passed it, I could see the front display was fine.)

I've noticed quite a few like that. From an enthusiast point of view it makes it more interesting and gives more character but from a point of view of them not being that old it's not great.

All the MMCs seem to now be fitted with the new stop announcements and screens. Are the remaining batches with the 2017-2022 system likely to follow suit anytime soon?

I believe they’re currently working their way through 571-590 at the moment. These are losing their bottom deck screens in favour of two separate dot matrix’s - one facing each way. Upstairs the advertising screen and the next stop screen have been swapped around.

I suspect this set up will be unique to these hybrids owing to the awkward positioning of the wheelchair space.

Is there any kind of bus related events in East Lothian at the moment? I saw a red Lothian Zoo-branded bus heading east on the A1 this morning and I'm sure it was already east of Blindwells, which I thought was the furthest east they went out of service to start the 26 at Seton Sands.

I'm surprised that they are removing the screens as it seems a backwards step.

I'm also surprised that these haven't had their luggage racks removed in exchange for 2 more seats.

Remember to do this they’d need to go through the legal process via the DVSA for each vehicle. This would mean taking every single bus affected to the DVSA centre in Pumpherston to be assessed as it’s a change of capacity. For so little gain, it’s not worth doing.

The last of the three 7900H buses for the Highland Council arrived on Wednesday. Two will be used for service, and one will be used as a community bus.

Former Number 3 SN13BCY

Former Number 4 SN13BCZ

Former Number 8 SN13BDV
