I've heard reports 20096/107 rescued a Penderlino caught up in fizzy knitting at Manchester Piccadilly today. Can anyone confirm this?

This is true, there's photos on Facebook - pretty remarkable to see 2 BR Green Class 20s rescuing a Pendo, it has to be said!

How did they do this with no Dellner? Some sort of emergency coupler?

In other LSL news, BR 71000 was amazing up Eardington Bank at the Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala yesterday:

Exactly that, most units carry an emergency coupler.

Interesting one on Saturday 9th May. There is a line closure that weekend between Hereford and Shrewsbury, so the Midland Pullman tour is travelling between the two via Malvern, Worcester, Birmingham and Telford. It'll be the first tour to go along the Hereford to Worcester line for a number of years, setting the stage for when Intercity does it later this year. But, anyway, 3 hours to get from Hereford to Shrewsbury!

Well if you have a bit of a drawn out journey time, there is no better way to do it than on the Midland Pullman

I quite agree! I will be on it, hence why I've been looking out for the times and so noticed the unusual routing. An unexpected bonus, as far as I'm concerned.

Where do we expect it to be dragged to, York to disembark passengers then Crewe? Or just dumped at York to be collected by LSL later on or fixed in situ?

I don't know.

I don't know if there's a way of turning the train (if the problem was end specific), or whether it's returning to origin.

*ADDITION* - I'm not sure if it's sat down again just shy of Sherburn. 1Z12 (Kettle) in rear.

And now it's taking a long time to get from Church Fenton to Sherburn, and 1Z12 (the Great Britain XVIII with a steam loco) is stuck behind it.

Well it's now re-materialised heading from the Gascoigne Wood direction, so the only thing I can guess is that it's been sent round the triangle to reverse.

Now heading north again and passing Sherburn-in-Elmet for the third time today. Now running 218 late.
