Interesting... 6945,47 and 58 have all been on the DFDS shuttles in Newcastle which I use often, so it'll be nice to see them around Hull

The delays were always there, hence why, at peak times, First re-routed the bus in the published timetable along the whole length of Roundhay Road and then North Street. The situation became worse because of the narrowing of Regent Street from 3 lanes down to 2 and because of all the traffic lights.

As to the college, I have never seen any students use it and even if they do, as the college entrance is at the top of Byron St. at the junction with North Street, re-routing via North St. is closer to the college entrance.

All of these have been in storage at Compass in Stockton for a week or two… wondered why so now it makes sense. Short term stand ins for sure

As apparently there is problems with the electric supply and the stadium are worried about the supply being strong enough, however, apparently 2 saloons are supposed to be going on monday mornings park and ride workings as,they wanted to last week but apparently the 2 drivers who were working them hadnt been trained at that point I believe they have one charger working and are going to rotate the buses out of 3.

There’s a bus stop on North Street as soon as you join.

Seen quite a few buses operating for Go Ahead around Batley with paper destinations in the windscreen and screens not functioning. Presumably there are vehicles drafted in from elsewhere at short notice to cover services inherited from Yorkshire Travel?

Not technically a breakdown as the bus remained moving, but the M1 return to Hull on 922 was caped at Wetwang yesterday due to power steering faults showing up. Seemed to drive well enough, but the driver decided that she wasn't having a breakdown on her first run of 2026 and pulled over at Malton to report it and then enlisted the help of a passenger to relay messages and then took the bus out of service at Wetwang and used the old ME1 route to return directly to depot dropping me, the said passenger, off only three minutes from my house.

Felt very strange to be on the M1/M3 to be honest as I was the only one onboard in both directions which was a bit unnerving

The buses on the 212 formerly operated on the X98/X99 before having a (very) brief time in Scarborough and then returning to West Yorkshire to cover for Yorkshire Buses. It does look like one of the E200 MMCs on the 213 hasn't tracked since February, and Go Ahead has been using an Optare Metrocity and an E200 to cover, perhaps without the destination blind working.

More leadership changes as Interim MD Matt Ashton will depart EY this summer for Brighton & Hove and Metrobus and Matt Kitchin moves from Stagecoach Yorkshire to EY as MD:
Go-Ahead has appointed Matt Ashton as Managing Director of Brighton & Hove and Metrobus; and Matt Kitchin as Managing Director of East Yorkshire. Both appointments will take effect during the summer of 2026.Matt Ashton will become the Managing Director of Brighton & Hove and Metrobus following a stint as Interim Managing Director at East Yorkshire. During his time in East Yorkshire, Matt has provided strong leadership through a period of transition, while maintaining a clear focus on reliability and operational performance for customers. Matt previously served as Operations Director at Go North West, where he played a key role in delivering high-performing services. Matt now brings this experience to Brighton, which has the highest rate of public transport use outside of London and is widely recognised for its innovation, leadership in accessibility and high levels of customer satisfaction.Matt Kitchin joins Go-Ahead from Stagecoach, where he was most recently Managing Director of their Yorkshire business. He brings more than two decades of experience in the bus industry, having begun his career in buses in 2002. Matt brings valuable knowledge of Go-Ahead to his role, having served as General Manager for Southern Vectis and then at Bluestar between 2012 and 2016. Matt’s wealth of experience within Yorkshire and the wider industry positions him well to lead East Yorkshire in continuing to deliver for customers across the region.Martin Dean, Managing Director, UK Regional Bus, Go-Ahead, said: “Strong operational leadership is the cornerstone of delivering high-quality services for the customers and communities we serve, and these are two excellent appointments for Go-Ahead. Matt Ashton has been an outstanding leader at East Yorkshire, and he will do a brilliant job in his new role. Matt Kitchin brings over 20 years of experience in the bus industry and a deep understanding of our business from his previous time with Go-Ahead. I’d also like to thank Rupert Cox for his exceptional work in supporting the team at Brighton & Hove and Metrobus as interim Managing Director.”

And so dawns the era of the oversized dodgems...

318 appears to have come off 35s until the afternoon according to bustimes

Edit: Also, lets hope 348 is not withdrawn too soon because that old girl is a real trooper, given amazing service and is only a few months short of two decades

LF73 DXZ has been on school/college services today tracking as 20722. It also must not have destination board set up as it was running with paper destination.

6191 is also running with just a number on the front destination surely a breach of psvar you would think going in front of the TC. they would make sure everything is spot on.

Had an interesting chat for a moment with a fellow passenger whilst waiting for the M1 at the Interchange - one of the two counts at the upcoming hearing next month apparently relates to last year's numerous breakdowns, mechanical issues, bits breaking off the side and so on from the disaster that was the 2025 Moorsbus season...Perhaps false and perhaps true - thought it was worth mentioning here because I am sure one or two people in this thread who seem to work with EY might know if that is the case.

For those that may have attended in the past as one is entitled to being public as it is, do you just turn up and say you wish to observe the proceedings of a certain case or must you "register" with the TC's office which in this case is in Leeds?

You need to check first whether the hearing is an actual hearing or a virtual hearing. If it is a virtual hearing then you will not be able to attend, because all the parties will be attending via Microsoft Teams etc.

If it is an actual, in person hearing, you need to check whether it is a full hearing or a preliminary hearing. It is unlikely that a preliminary hearing whose funtion is to deal with administrative issues such as documents, statements, length of hearing, availability, identity and number of witnesses etc. will be held in public.

If it is a full public hearing, then you just need to inform the clerk on the day that you are a member of the public and wish to observe the hearing. You then have to hope that it starts on time, and actually goes ahead on the day, rather than being adjourned.

The call up you've posted beforehand says S28 (not S26) - typically with a coach operator it suggests drivers hours issues but will also appear when there are maintenance issues.

Bus Operators running local bus services are required to have sufficient buses and drivers to operate the timetables they've registered. A driver not being available, or a bus breaking down or not being available is not regarded by the traffic commissioner as a reasonable excuse for failing to run the registered timetable. If you do not have enough buses or drivers, you should reduce your operation accordingly to a level you can properly run. Few do....

So I'm surprised not to see 'S26' on the call up. It does imply some issue on the vehicle/engineering side of the business. Have a number of prohibition notices been issued to the company's vehicles? There's a trigger point on those where the operator will be called up if there's too many. Is there a poor MOT pass rate?

It will say on the Notices and Proceedings issue with the call up information but there is a contact number listed there with some instructions if you're attending. You can attend a public inquiry but it's in your interest to call that number, explain you're going to attend it. It's worth making sure the inquiry isn't adjourned to another date which often happens, so ring them and ask. I have been to a few as a 'member of the public' - thankfully never had to be the one getting a telling off :D

It's typical for the outcome of the inquiry to be a formal written warning - moreso when it's a big operator. Essentially that means 'please don't be here again'. The new management in the company will help here also. Matt happens to be a regular poster on this forum but possibly may not be able to add anything to this discussion.

Just noticed something odd - I was doing some accounting on my bank app this evening and noticed that East Yorkshire Buses has now become East Yorkshire Coaches when paying for a fare by card or phone

When did this change?

Second day in a row the X46 has been a shambles. Yesterday the 1550 Hull to Pocklington service didn't run and the following 1625 Hull to York was 15 mins late by the time it got to Beverley meaning there was a 75 minute gap between services on a 2 buses per hour frequency. EY's oldest bus, 55 plate 20705, also did a return working from Hull to York and back presumably to cover a breakdown.
Today, 20915 broke down just after Pocklington on the 0730 Hull to York and terminated there, with the return 1010 York to Hull cancelled. Then, 20916 broke down at Market Weighton meaning the 1240 Hull to York service terminated there and the return 1520 York to Hull didn't run. Oh, and the 1550 Hull to Pocklington didn't run for the second day in a row!
As usual, the live tracking wasn't updated to reflect the cancellations.

The unreliability of the E400 MMCs is surprising, the route isn't particularly challenging and is mostly flat. B9TLs are becoming common place on the route to cover for E400 MMCs. 6 year old buses shouldn't really be having these sort of reliability issues.
