With the Borders line now being electrified, I was thinking, has there been any other lines that have been previously closed, then reopened and electrified?
I can only think of two others, firstly in London, Blackfriars to Farringdon via the Snow Hill tunnel, I do not think this line was ever electrified before closure in 1971, this line reopened in 1988 as part of Thameslink.
Secondly, in South Wales, Aberdare to Abercynon, which was closed to passengers traffic in 1964 and then reopened for passengers in 1988, the coal trains from Tower Colliery kept this line open as freight only, so it never closed.
Any others please?
