Funny how just as Trump is egging NATO to be involved in the war an inter-ballistic missile is fired at Diego Garcia; clearly Donald thinks people jump into and get involved with wars without providing the full story…

IF Iran fired the missile that is…
Now there's a thought............ Like the Russians planning a near miss assassination attempt on Orban in Hungary to get him a few more sympathy votes.

False flags are getting everywhere.

You would like a convicted fraudster, adjudicated rapist, multiple bankrupt, insurrectionist, corrupt, treasonous, demented, idiot as leader? Are you on the same planet as the rest of us?
Some people aren't, otherwise these people would not be elected.

I don’t know that specific part of history but I’ll take your word for it!

And would i take him in place of the embarrassment of a leader we currently have? You bet i would!! Trump is a man with faults aplenty but there is something about the guy that hooks me in every time i see his press conferences.
I'm happy to believe you are exactly the sort of person he appeals to.

Trump hated the fact that someone was going to expose his many crimes and unsuitability to hold power, and that, maybe Justice was going to for once make him accountable, that his wealth and connections might not protect him.

To Me it exposes Trump for what he is, and whilst everyone can hold their own views, I for one am glad we still have the rule of law, and the opportunity to throw out our elected leaders every 5 years, and they accept it, they don't try to start an insurrection to stay in power.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.

Undoubtedly in a minority on here, maybe it is because he is so different.

You'd take a senile, degenerate, rapist & serial sex offender over who we currently have.

I see.

I was listening to a podcast a few weeks ago where a news channel were interviewing over in The States.
They went to an investors seminar, and the attendees who they interviewed were in favour of Trump.
They were also interviewing at a steelworks that sounded like it was struggling and may have to close, It sounded like the person being interviewed may have voted for Trump, thinking he would be on his side, but now had regrets.
I thought those two locations said a lot about what Trump and his presidency are really about.

I enjoyed that the Iranian government said that no talks had taken place roughly 20 minutes after Trump made that statement.

Says a lot that you can believe what the Iranians say more than the POTUS.

I don't mind him being different - it's just Trump is actively driving the world to chaos. And if you can't see that, either you don't understand what's going on or you do but you don't care.

So your whole pitch for a “better leader” is that one irritates you and the other keeps you entertained - because yes, of course, national leadership is obviously something we should choose with the same rigorous method people use when picking a curry off a takeaway menu… what could possibly go wrong?

Apparently the Nuremberg Rallies were quite entertaining as well.

Though it must be remembered that in the end they ended up with the Nuremberg Trials... They were also "fun" for some, but very much not fun for others!

That was my implied point... And maybe one that some people would be wise to remember.

Surprise, surprise (not), strong indications of insider trading fifteen minutes before Trump's announcement of the (possibly imaginary) "very good talks" with Iran.
Traders bet hundreds of millions of dollars on oil contracts just minutes before US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the US would postpone strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure.

Market data reviewed by the BBC shows the volume of trade spiked around fifteen minutes before a social media post by the president announcing the move.

The price of oil fell sharply after the announcement, dropping 14% in a matter of minutes. Traders who bet on the unexpected move would have made money.

Some market analysts say the unusual activity opens up the possibility that the bets may have been placed with prior knowledge of the decision.
The Trump administration said that it did not "tolerate any administration official illegally profiteering off of insider knowledge", but that wouldn't cover Trump himself or his family doing so.

The same article says it likely happened over Venezuela too:
This is not the first time that US foreign policy has been linked to a flurry of betting activity.

In January, wagers surged on Polymarket, a crypto-powered predictions platform, as gamblers bet on Venezuela's president Nicolás Maduro being be out of power by the end of the month. Hours later he was seized by American forces.

One account made more than $436,000 from a $32,537 bet.
The Trump money-making scams just roll on. I wonder how many punters have received their gold Trump phones yet?

Ooh, ooh, I know the answer to this one! "None".

A couple of YouTubers who I follow ordered Trump Phones and haven't received them yet. One called customer service and the rep said that no phones had been shipped yet. They are, apparently, "in final testing".

So, for today's game, you have to find a video clip of Trump saying that he has received his prize. A prize that only took one day to be received after being promised... I wonder what the prize was?

The i Paper has suggested "The US President is said to have entered his 'raccoon with rabies' phase as he wages chaotic war"

Scary if he is going "scorched earth" if the walls are starting to close on him! Maybe Vance will finally face reality and pressured into making moves to remove Trump? Recent photos of Vance appear to show him looking doubtful behind Trump, who knows?

Being reported that the Florida district in which Mar-a-Lago is located has just elected a Democrat to the state's assembly.

Democrat Emily Gregory, a first-time candidate, defeated Trump-backed Republican Jon Maples in a race for the open Florida District 87 state House seat.

The result is a reversal from 2024, when a Republican won the district by 19 percentage points.

Democrats have performed well in special elections during Trump's second term, and Gregory's victory could indicate momentum for the party heading into this year's congressional midterm elections.

Also being suggested that Trump used a mail-in ballot despite him wanting to abolish them.

Donald Trump voted by mail in a Florida special election, days after publicly declaring that 'mail-in voting means mail-in cheating,' prompting swift condemnation and fresh accusations of rank hypocrisy.

Public records from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections confirm that Trump, registered to vote at his Mar-a-Lago estate, cast a mail ballot in the 24 March 2026 special election for Florida House District 87.

Trump, and those who surround him, are corrupt, you can almost bet that they have made money from Trumps time in power,
But one day it will end, Trump is old, and in poor health, sooner or later, he will be removed, either by the grim reaper, or because those backing him now see him as a liability,

What's going to be " Interesting is Trumps reaction if Vance tries to remove him, He will go full on dictator, most likely ordering the arrest of his entire cabinet, and will call out his private army (ice) to keep him in power, plus the Maga crazies, it will split the republican movement,

Hopefully it will be just after the Mid-terms, when Democrats have secured the house, and with the republicans at each other's throats.

I’m given to understand that if Vance succeeds in removing the orange man-baby under the 25th amendment before two years from Trump’s inauguration have elapsed, the period up to 2028 counts as a first term; if after, it doesn’t: so Vance could stand as sitting president in 2028, then again (if he wins) in 2032.

For this reason I suspect the time of maximum danger for Trump is after the midterms, assuming they go badly for the Republicans, when Vance can wield the knife and potentially (Lord preserve us) have the presidency for almost ten years.

Unless he does a REALLY good job I can't see him managing that - it'll be see out the rest of Trump's term and potentially have two in a number of years' time when the Republicans have regrouped and become a bit more normal again.

Mind you I'm not sure how well the world is going to survive if he waits for January 21, 2027...that's a whole 9 more months of absolute madness.

First, Trump himself has to survive any potential Iranian action against him A very good reason for Vance to be pushing Trump for peace in the middle east.

(Apologies for crossover with the war thread.)

I'm sure we all see the virtual inevitability that no matter how long Trump and Vance string it along government in the US is so polarised that future stable governance by anyone and any party is a very optimistic prospect.

The rule of law? What law? Who can enforce it when the President will pardon anyone and everyone on a whim? Trump would naturally claim precedents by previous Presidents. But he has set all time records in this area with no need to big up the achievement.

I think it's very clear what's going to happen, Trump being a malign narcissist, will see it as a personal attack, and seek to destroy Vance, and anyone who votes with him, he will use every trick he can, including armed insurrection, against the senate, to stay in power. he will not go

The outcome will be armed insurrectionists fighting the police and national guard, the ones whose governors decide to back democracy, plus republicans who put country over party, it will split the country, and could even see civil war, Trump will be that determined to hold onto power , plus, he sees everything as being about him, a civil war, in his mind is justified if it keeps him as dictator for life.

If this was still 2020 I would share that fear, however his hold over his thralls has weakened significantly. He doesn't command the massive crowds of loyal followers that he used to - between being half a decade older, the Epstein files, another war in the Middle East and gas prices hitting as much as $7/gallon in some places he is significantly diminished.

This was the crowd at a recent rally, while he was on stage speaking:
IMG-20260312-WA0004.jpg

Compare that to the crowds of tens of thousands that he used to fill arenas with.

A common comment from former MAGA members is some variation on "He kept promising to be different, but nothing changed for us". That's not someone you you'd take up arms for.

If Vance has any sense (and I believe he has), he’s going to want to start distancing himself not just from Trump, but from the whole sorry mess that’s going to play out over the next few years.

I could see him walking away in 2028 ready for a try at it in 2032 once the dust settles. He’s still pretty young and his profile seems to be getting lower of late, partly by his design and partly by Trumps. He knows that this is rapidly becoming an absolute disaster.

He will walk away to save his own skin, because if the Democrats take the senate, then the house, and there's a Democratic president in 2029
there will be a reckoning, with trumps appointees facing court for what they did, for the many times the law was broken, Ice will be disbanded and its officers in court, some facing murder charges, and hopefully the death penalty themselves,

Vance could even turn on his former friends, if only to save his self.
