One correction for the video above. It was mentioned that trains will be every 30 minutes at Charfield, same as Yate. I believe it will only be hourly, same as Cam & Dursley, due to lack of capacity on the route

Think it’s more lack of capacity of the current stock to get out the way quick enough / get to Gloucester in time to turn round and come back again.

My opinion on this, as so often, is to wait for spades to start digging before getting too excited. This sounds more advanced than I'd expected it to be, but still really far off by way of ambition.

Well that seems like a completely unnecessary additional that will confuse more people than it induces to cycle to the station.

If they want to promote active travel then put in some decent cycling infrastructure people will want to use.

Yes, the addition of "Walkway" to the name seems entirely pointless if the only "feature" is lack of parking; I would hope that there is more to it than that and that it actually means something like "No parking, but instead high-quality safe walking (and cycling) routes to nearby important destinations". But then again, quite a lot of stations already have that attribute.

Walkway would imply to me that it's very far from the settlement. So if anything it's a discouraging thing to add.

Or are we, as a society, so car-centric that the idea of walking to the train station isn't the first option?

Worth pointing out that the station is about 2-3rds of that cost, with the rest being to improve local access to the station:

WYCA members approved £49 million for the station itself – the project, which will see further work developed on the business case, will be delivered by Network Rail, which has the expertise, they heard.

Work will begin sooner, in June, on the access package, for which members approved £22.7 million.

£50m for a reasonably simple station still feels very high though, given recent stations have been in the £20-30m bracket

Slipped another year then, and that is only hoped for! Previously was announced as £20m upped to £25m.

What's that compared to say Tame Bridge Parkway? Considering if given the option to drive to a station most would probably pick one with a more frequent service. 231 for Tame Bridge Parkway and 779 for Wolves.
