East Lancashire Railway tour on Saturday seems to have fallen foul of the Marston Vale line maybe being closed again impacting the route home - no longer dropping off at Kettering or Bedford
Another day, another tour where the operator hadn't even done outline checks on what they requested/advertised was going to be viable. Thats both the Saturday and Sunday for this one then, very high quality.

Last train on the Marston Vale on a Saturday is the 2219 Bedford > Bletchley and no notice of closures i have seen.

I cant see either the outbound or return schedules in RTT yet but I would be surprised if this tour would be later than that into Bedford especially as it is due into Leicester c.2100

makes sense! cheers!

At least you get a bonus thrash on the WCML so might get some speed up - BTW hoping to see this one on the way out

There are options assuming train is on time arriving Leicester at 20.58 as the 21.14 train for London is one that actually stops at Bedford. Miss that and there are no trains south that get you to Bedford as last Corby - StP train has already left.

Timings from Bletchley are 07.28 outward and 22.17 return. The train doesn't pick up from MKC but stops there on the way back.

I'm confused about timings for the Derby Express positioning move... maybe I'm just being silly but from the UKRailtours website:

But, further down, these are the timings given:

Am I being thick, or is there a mistake?
The timings changed - it was originally advertised as 12:00 from Watford, arriving around 16:00 in Derby. When the confirmed timings came, it was much earlier

Important to get the small stuff right. Like releasing all handbrakes.

The East Lancs tour seems to have come to a stand at Leicester for 30+mins. Any reason behind this lengthy stop?

Not actually confirmed but comments suggest an ETS problem with 50008 being removed at Leicester onto the LIP, 50049 continuing solo

What will the locos be on tomorrow's journey? Given 50008's failure?

Perhaps the ETS issues were with the stock rather than the loco?
I heard conflicting stories , the Team in the 50 was saying it was a problem with the Mk3's. But the UKRT staff in the coaches were saying it was a problem with the loco.

Well the ETH load was a greater number than could be supplied by a class 50, so it definitely would have put too greater load on the ETH generator and that is what let go. 50008 will be out for a while now as it can't just be run with the ETH switched out as that also run the radiator fans

Looking at the formation, the maximum ETH load from the stock was 61, which is the same as a Class 50's rating. It should also be noted that this is the maximum load and the set will not have been at maximum load on a weekend such as this - maximum demand would be on a freezing cold day in the middle of winter with all the catering equipment running at full power too.

I was in coach D and for a while around midday we were down to emergency lighting and no power to the charging sockets, and no power to the buffet/kitchen cars, not good with two(?) coaches of dining passengers. An announcement was made stating that onboard technicians were working on the problem and after about 10-15 minutes it all came back on again. Probably unrelated but later on in the same coach they were having issues cancelling a continuously sounding alarm in the accessible toilet. Thankfully this was also rectified pretty quickly.
