New tour now available for the 31st of January, Romic HST from derby up to Shildon via lots of bits and bobs, via Barnsley on a tram sounds rare to me, into the A1 loco site at Hopetown and to Shildon for three hours. A proper bargain £69 standard, bargain much cheapness

A helpful link for others to look: https://www.ukrailtours.com/product/the-sale-of-the-century/

Very cheap for quite a long day, especially as it does some more unusual track (although I suspect the return journey from Shildon will be in darkness)

Does anyone know where it's going during the layover in Shildon? I assume it can't stay on the Branch line

How did UKR damage the TC set?
:s
Dragged it with a class 92 while it had the brakes fully applied and gave it wheel flats so horrid it can't even be put on wheel skates to be removed by rail , it has to be removed by road.

It's currently stored in ripple lane awaiting removal by road.

You've fallen directly into the trap I set. Unless you can show otherwise, UKR are not the technical operator of the train - that's H&H and UKR have nothing to do with leaving handbrakes on or whatever.

I think that will be popular given the uncertainty around the future of Doncaster works

Any part fares from Keighley to Rylestone?

Although I wouldn't be surprised if at some point (and late notice) the tour to Rylestone will get offered for something like £50 late notice once they get an idea how many people are booking on the steamy train or not booking anything.

Although they might not do anything to avoid people trying to save money by only booking the standalone tour to get the unusual track at Keighley, the branch line to Rylestone & both main locos.

I'm certainly tempted with that tour, just need to look at accommodation options for the West Midlands area.

Which is a bit odd, given that (one assumes) a reasonable and trackable number will choose to spend some time in Keighley or on the KWVR instead.
That's what I thought but it states

"The mini tour can only be taken by those booked on the main tour and is not available as a stand alone option."

If they'd rather have empty seats then make a bit of cash from folk in Airedale, that's their choice.

Or is it just an admission that the main party of the tour holds very limited appeal?

How high a part fare could be justified? Given the price of the main tour, perhaps £99 could be justified for Keighley to Rylstone? Both locomotives, perhaps the resident shunter, and the freight branch? The rest of the trip is essentially a positioning move.

How much 'normal' market is there for the journey from the West Midlands to Keighley?

06.45 from Bewdley (!) before NR gets to play with the timings. Huge respect to anyone who doesn’t live there and still manages to be on that bit!

There's loads of new stuff to book now or listed in the diary dates, it's interesting that the mazey day tour to Penzance seams to have been binned and replaced with something else

I think more down to there already being 2 tours heading to Penzance on the same day, maybe they decided a 3rd won't be as profitable as running an alternative tour

The Great Yarmouth to Pwllheli trip on 28 May would be a seriously early start!

And most likely a seriously late finish

From memory there is a car park at Bewdley station, and 06:45 isn't such an early start for those railtour goers whom drive half-way across the country overnight (and then fall asleep on the tour itself) ;) Especially if they want the connection from the SVR to NR.

I can think of more random starting stations (i.e. Willington for a couple tours back when the coaching stock was based near Burton)

It's also showing a diary date for the Sunday 24th, West Midlands to the east Somerset railway

East Lancashire Railway tour on Saturday seems to have fallen foul of the Marston Vale line maybe being closed again impacting the route home - no longer dropping off at Kettering or Bedford
