I’ve unfortunately not been to Denmark yet. I’m glad you’re happy with it though! :)

What if the Hogwarts Express were real?

Well, it sort of is, but isn't it currently just a bunch of tatty, not particularly historic looking Mk2s with mixed levels of functioning air con? :)
One of my pet peeves is people referring to The Jacobite as the Harry Potter train. Apart from the Viaduct it’s entirely unrelated. The NYMR probably has a better claim to such a title since it has Hogsmeade station and it at least probably sees the requisite GWR loco type occasionally.

I generated this image as part of an ongoing music history lesson in the Not Entirely Realistic thread. However, I think it is quite realistic. So for a What If? secenario I imagined tulip fields on the Heart of Wales.

Not a daff in sight. Fakery! :D
This months theme is What If? - We know that the Heart of Wales is surrounded by fields of daffodils in real life:

What about flowering fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine?

Unfortunately, the invitiation to suggest that the daffodils belong to the collective has become a major issue in the Welsh election and this is not a thread for political commentary.

What a lovely way to welcome people into Kings Cross.

Here is the true Heart of Wales line:

Obviously the farmer won the Kings Cross contract and is getting ready.

She just wishes Michael Jackson would stop going on about sunrises, rain and using that pesky wind machine.

Bean a while - what if your snaps of everyday railway scenes, were constantly photobombed?
Source images - Beanless - are all my own.

Did someone mention daffodils?

Did you know? Daffodil bulbs are poisonous, causing a stomach upset if eaten.
There's a What if Blackburn Station retained its overall roof back-story somewheree:
Of a Wales-born station manager feeling a little homesick (and then feeling actually sick - having mistaken a daffodil bulb for garlic, whilst preparing his Welsh-Spanish fusion tortilla-rarebit).
Meanwhile... in a nod to the geographic tug-of-war that was the Lancs & Yorks Railway, the LNER runs an Azuma once a day up to Blackburn; returning via Spalding during its Flower Festival (giving its eastbound travellers opprtunity to decide who does daffs better).

There used to be a guards manager at Gloucester many years who was the spitting image of Mr Bean (I won’t name him). Some on the forum may remember him.

That is a brilliant video.

My what if is slightly a twin one. What if TfW got rid of the black band around the windows on a 150/2? What if it were sunny and all the flowers were blooming? These are two things that will not be seen, but I have an image to show it.

Gemini_Generated_Image_mkl4z6mkl4z6mkl4.png

This TfW is actually a new service which extends the Manchester to West Wales to start back in Huddersfield. The scene here captures the limit of the electrification on the TransPennine Route Upgrade. The contractors were sacked for cutting corners with combining signal and wiring gantries.

Maybe it was this spitting image - the anecdote is hilarious.

My back-story won't work with that. :D
To be fair the story works. That is the return working arriving back at Kings Cross. The train could have come from "Accrington, or Gilberdyke, Rotherham or Frome, because Azumas come from anywhere, anywhere with blooms" (with apologies to The Beautiful South for the blatant butchering of Rotterdam)

With further apologies to the Beautiful South. But he's at the gate with a perfect 8. It is an XXL but what the hell... The bus is a ten but it wears a 12 (though Gemini has gone for a more 52)

The number 52 Double Decker (52 DD, to be a lazy writer, as I) is difficult to manoeuvre in tight routes: weight distribution is top heavy.

Not sure if this is Rotherham, it could be anywhere. But the well-crewed 150 has stopped to exchange a token. Every penny going to fit the slot.

A big wind-up - what if the UK's railways really did run like clockwork?
That does beg the question of whether an industry standard key was developed, or whether each class has its own nuances that prevent interoperability. I am thinking that the 455/456 in the picture are off for scrap so the keys would be potentially available.

You have inspired a discussion in my head of alternative propulsion systems. Here we see the Hugh Flot patented train rebound system that fires trains back where they came from. There are a few passengers who have mistaken the safe zone for being a boarding location though.

When my daily commute involved taking the Docklands Light Railway, I'd often look out of the train window, searching hard for the DLR's fabled West India Key. I never saw it.

Kinetic-to-Potential, Potential-to-Kinetic; it's a genius energy-efficient idea @Topological . I've often wondered why Magic Roundabout's Zebidee didn't take a similar career-path, after his TV contract ended. Last I had heard, he.was one of 2000 similar inside a king-sized mattress.
