They've not applied to for the December timetable change but if there's enough demand in the future then I imagine they'll look at it.

I thought that all services that served Horwich Parkway would call too (Hazel Grove-Preston / Manchester Victoria-Blackpool North / Manchester Airport-Blackpool North).

At my last visit, the footbridge was already intact and most of the platforms foundations were completed. The building was slightly advanced too.

Aye, it was an ammo factory in WW2, and was a staff halt until some time later.

The application is only for Manchester Victoria to Blackpool services plus the 06:53 Blackpool to Hazel Grove and the 17:04 Hazel Grove to Blackpool services to call there. TPE would need to put in their own application but Northern have certainly only applied to stop around half of their trains there.

Yes it's effectively a new village-could be described as a commuter village-and yes there are other towns with larger populations with no station but guess it's because it's near an existing line and a lot of people living there will probably be commuting to Manchester-hope all Manchester trains don't stop there as it's already jammed on this line at peak times!

That service currently sees operation by 142/150/156/158/180 (talk about variety!).

I am sure TPE peak calls were mentioned at an earlier stage.

Passed this on Sunday. Platforms and footbridge 90-95% complete, just the very upper layer of tarmac needed doing. The building on the Manchester platform looks finished externally, inside was a bit bare.

It is almost identical to the new Bathgate, minus the OHLE.

That is what I had originally heard as well, but the NRE site is showing the Hazel Grove services to be stopping there as well.

No sign of any TPE peak or even the mentioned off-peak calls for the dates in December that I just checked though.

Will be interesting to see what the passenger levels are like there when it opens and what level it displaces from Leyland and Chorley on either side of it.

Platforms can take 7 coach trains, from what I have been told the Hazel Grove service will call at Buckshaw Parkway along with the Blackpool N-Victoria services. The running time between Leyland and Chorley has accounted for Buckshaw since 2008.

Yes Paul,it's Chorley ROF you are thinking of and it did indeed have it's own station which was sited very close to where the new station is presently being built...

They probably do report that. But I've looked at the Working Time Table. All Northern Services are booked to stop and an hourly off-peak TPE from December.

Not wishing to spoil all these celebrations, but another recent thread comes to mind. Would this station be classified as a "category E" station and be subject to having its booking office removed under those recent proposals, that encouraged so many replies from forum members being posted upon that thread.

Try putting MIA as your departure station to Buckshaw Parkway and you will find that you have to change trains at Manchester Piccadilly to another train leaving from Manchester Piccadilly.

For example, by doing this on the link that you provided, the following came up:-

MAN 0954-1035 BSV

TPE have not applied to the ORR to revise calling patterns so will maintain current calling patterns.

Northern specified Manchester Victoria to Blackpool and Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool services in their applications. The latter has just a couple of peak time services but it's possible Northern made an error in their application but I imagine they would have to reapply before they could actually revise the calling pattern of Hazel Grove to Preston services.
