Interestingly the past two times I have been on the franchised T12 route it has been an 8 seat Mercedes minibus, with no destination blinds, a hinged manual front door and no prospect of wheelchair access. Reminds me almost of post-Soviet marshrutka services - hardly a recipe for success...
It's stuff like this that really undermines the argument that smaller companies shouldn't be overlooked in the franchising process.

And no passengers beyons Willingham?
I think AtoB must be pushed to the limit. They took on an contract for an extra vehicle for the Ely services on 2 January.

The most I've seen to Sutton is one.

On a slightly related, brighter note, A2B's new X75 Biggleswade to Cambridge service (which I think is Beds funded, not Cambs) seems to be doing very well - well over half full when I rode it this afternoon, with similar loads every other time I've seen it, and a smart bus too.

The six mayoral combined authorities in England that are in the process of moving towards bus franchising will each get a further £500,000 of government funding to help with that transition.
Adoption of franchising has already been confirmed in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, the Liverpool City Region, South Yorkshire, the West Midlands and West Yorkshire, while the same shift looks inevitable in the North East.

Interesting for Cambridgehsire - I thought the mayor was aiming to get out of franchising because there is no money for it and he committed to not raising the Caombined Authorty precept.
