What made you happy today?

Going to the Nelson Arms in Tonbridge. If you are a pub fan, this is an absolute gem. It’s hard to find decent ‘proper pubs’ down south it seems, but this reminds me of some of those I’ve visited in the Midlands or the North.

Most of my happy moments seem to revolve around pubs these days

Indeed, there’s nothing like finding decent pubs. Over the years I’ve enjoyed travelling around combining a rail trips and pub visits. My next trip will be to Berkhamsted, looks like some nice pubs along the canal.

I’ve never considered Berkhamsted, perhaps I should take a look!

For me pubs are far more than the alcohol. One of the few ‘public’ places where it’s easy(ish) to talk to strangers, and if you find the right pub, a great place to meet people from all walks of life and cultures.

You may wish to try the Cockleshell in Saltash where mobile phones are banned. One is encouraged to talk to your fellow drinkers.

The Rising Sun is the best of them. Although the Crystal Palace has the side attraction (for some) of being able to see trains passing on the WCML from a couple of tables in the front windows.

Also a nice pub on the canal, albeit a coulle of miles walk down the towpath, is the Three Horsehoes at Bourne End. Next to a funky little bridge over the canal.

Also in that neck of the woods, the Tring Brewery is well worth a visit. It’s a half hour walk from Tring station, or 90-100mins from Berko. Check their website for the Tap Room opening times etc, Thursday - Sunday usually.

What made me happy was going to a music venue last night, and playing a song I wrote, since new year, I have been learning the piano, and wrote my first song on it a week or so ago normally I play guitar, So people who I know, were surprised to see me go sit behind the piano and play, The song is the best I have written so far, and I got the best reaction, to it that I have ever had.

Got home a few minutes into this morning having been to see Climax Blues Band playing in Preston last night, and am now busy uploading and editing the video footage I took (over 30 minutes' worth). Very happy with what I got, and I hope the band will be too.

Thank you so much, I'm a good songwriter, but still improving on my musical skills, I've only been playing Piano since the new year, and guitar for about 18 months, I started off on the Ukulele, in a strum along group, outgrew that, and started writing my own material the band only did covers, no original stuff, so i started going to local open mic nights, Joined a songwriting circle and kind of branched out from that.

This morning's stroll in Kraków (Poland) was bouyed by my seeing three of the few remaining Soviet-era Konstal 105Na trams. Fewer than thirty cars remain in use. Most in-service trams are of more modern, low-floor designs.

I've had a mortgage interest rebate from the Halifax, I paid it off about 7 years ago so that was a welcome surprise.

I've been suffering with aching feet for a while - this morning I bought some Scholl* shoe inserts and instantly my feet feel much better! Result!!!

Since I was a very young child I have suffered from a gum disease, they told me my teeth might fall out before I was 20. Well, I'm in my late 50s and they are all still intact (ish).
The dentists prescribe some awful stuff you have to apply yourself, I gave up with that a long time ago.

When it flares up, it's really painful - it can happen about four or five times a year.

Anyway, I was talking to someone about this as they could see I was in pain.
They recommended a product on Amazon, so I tried it.
The results were outstanding, I can basically say it works like local anaesthetic in your mouth.

I found this product about 18 months ago, with I'd known about it sooner, like with your shoe inserts.

still works fine ! makes me wonder why I put it there in the first place !

Had an old Amiga A1200 in my shed for about 25 years, booted up first time - you would have thought the hard drive would be shot by now.
I took the A1200 to bits first though, to check if there was any battery leakage (it didn't, coin type), just dead insects inside.

That'a point.I wonder if there's a battery of some kind in the Acer ? I had to reset the time/date after it booted !

On an Acer PC chances are it will be a coin lithium CMOS (BIOS) battery, so no need to panic.
