At least 37 people have been injured, five seriously, in a second crash, after Sunday's two-train collision in Andalusia.

A train driver has been killed and at least 15 people injured after a commuter train derailed and crashed near Barcelona, local media report.

According to local officials, the Rodalies train collided with a retaining wall which fell onto the track between Gelida and Sant Sadurní on Tuesday evening.

The severity of injuries suffered by passengers is currently being assessed by emergency services.

There are some photos of the crash on X, which I won't share due to concerns around appropriateness before we know if anyone is trapped in the wreckage, but it looks like the train has been very seriously damaged.

Two derailments in Catalunya this evening, retaining wall collapsed onto track as above, plus another with rocks on the line. Torrential rain last few days.

Horrible news to hear. My condolences to all involved.

It's been a terrible week; 2 accidents within the space of just a few short days is horrible news to hear.

Depressingly, from initial indications and rumours, it looks like a Spanish repeat of Carmont.

To have two separate derailments in Catalonia on the same day is very bad luck. I am surprised that the trains were not suspended with the storm and all the flooding and wind that Catalonia has had. It also makes me wonder whether they do thorough railway inspections in Spain after storms and heavy rain and wind. Normally in the UK after storms they will have Network Rail inspect the line to make sure it is safe for the trains to run.

"stable door mode" perhaps: ADIF have suspended the Rodalies de Catalunya (Barcelona area suburban network, basically) today until route proving/clearance work has been done - lots of trees down and other damage as well as the two more serious incidents already noted above.
