Hi all,
I had an advance ticket for a Transport for Wales journey this morning which was cancelled. This ticket was valid on TfW services only. However, I was under the impression that travelling on the next available train by any operator was permitted in case of cancellation, so I jumped on the next available train which was GWR. On the train, I was told that I am not permitted to do this. This was the first time I was challenged on this, even though I was allowed to travel without buying a new ticket.
Looking at this page: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/tick...tickets/advance-tickets-terms-and-conditions/ it says that,
8.4 If the train you purchased [an advance] ticket for is cancelled or is delayed and you still decide to travel, special arrangements will be made to accommodate you on another train (although a seat cannot be guaranteed).
It doesn't actually say what "special arrangements" these might be. Any advice on this situation?
