GWR has several OH offices, it could be somewhere else.
Reading, Swindon, Plymouth.Sounds logical. I lived in the Midlands and had to go to Liverpool for my NR medical - literally 15mins of signing forms and a pee test. Not a scratch from NR.
Are all pre emp medicals done on Reading then?
Eg; role location Paddington, Medical Reading - candidate to cough up 63.80 for a return peak fare.
Can anyone confirm?
Someone has a medical, and I told them that travel would be included as the medical is not at the location offered.Elizabeth line contactless will be cheaper. The return would be off-peak.

Clearly, I got it wrong.
A single peak from Paddington to Reading is around 34.00, off peak around £16.00 on GWR services.
Not doubting it at all.Just trying to help
Hi have you finally started? Do you think you could please let me know what you are doing as training? ThanksJust a little info about my time line from applying to start date:
-Applied Jan 25
-Tests taken in March
-Interview had in Apr
-Heard i had been added to TP in Jun
-Got asked if I could Start Nov/Dec in Sept
-Medical in Sept
-Confirmed Start Date December at Glos
So for me it's been roughly a year from applying to just about to start.
The recruitment team have been pretty decent with regular emails etc and pretty efficient with there online portal for paperwork etc.
Hi have you finished your training yet? ThanksI'm not training, and not with GWR.
PTS course around 6 weeks.
Ticketing course - around 4 weeks.
1st route - around 3 months (depending on individual).
All routes probably around 6+ months based on a Paddington position (other deptots could differ).
Why has your start been pushed back?

Hi, this is very good to know thank you for publishing this information. I have just applied and passed the online SJT online and been invited for the online tets. I believe there is a numerical test (which im most worried about) TCT, SCAAT and RAAT tets. Would you happen to know how many questions there will be on the numerical, and if timed? thank youJust a little info about my time line from applying to start date:

I did a few you tube videos before doing it, just to refresh on working out % and areas etc which will help! It’s multi choice as welll which make easier! Also there are a lot of question and prob won’t get to the end I didn’t, so if struggling just move onto the next question making sure you answer the one ones that you can! Good luck,hi there does anyone know how hard the numerical test is? my weak spot has to be maths and im finding the thought of this quite daunting
They are recruiting now.Hello, does anyone know if Paddington will be recruiting for Train Managers this year?
Yes I think the advert went out this week for LondonHello, does anyone know if Paddington will be recruiting for Train Managers this year?
Paddington TM is on this weeks Internal Board, haven't checked the site for externals yetYes I think the advert went out this week for London
thank you for your help in answering this, iv just done it and found it very hard... we shall seeThese numericals have time restrictions. It's all accuracy and speed. You're not expected to finish all the questions but there is a minimum you'll need to meet.
Example; the cost of a single Y is Z, a package consists of half a dozen Y. A customer gets 5% off if ordering 10 packages, and 15% off if ordering 20 packages. How much will the customer pay for 35 packages?
This is just an example and not an actual question you may be asked but they are along these lines.
Try not to worry too much about it and gove it a go. Don't spend too much time working out an answer.
.
thank you, iv just done it and I thought it was fairly difficult we shall see.. haven't received an email for the next test yet...I did a few you tube videos before doing it, just to refresh on working out % and areas etc which will help! Hi Frenchy7119, do you remember if you had to do the SCAAT and RAAT tests for GWR train manager applications, or whether anyone else knows? I'm quite worried about the potential of having to do the SCAAT test with the whole only being able to fail it two times ruleYea I thought too but that may not mean a lot !!! Well he luck let us know

Because you passed them it doesn't matter. The RAAT/SCAAT/TCT/TST do have a limit (2 attempts I believe with GWR). First fail 6 months wait, second fail 12 month wait and then exclusion.Hi chap, I believe I can help here. Yes, GWR require the OPC psychometric tests. However I can confirm that if you've done them within the last two years and passed, and they're recorded on the official OPC in London database, they will allow you to carry these and thus avoid having to sit them again for this particular campaign.
As for failing two times - that doesn't count for Guards / TMs / Conductors OPC psychometrics, only driver testing has the two strikes and you're out regime. I've sat the guards/TMs OPC psychometrics at least ten times and passed them all (do not ask why...) and can assure you there's no limit.
Yes, they're not straight forward but I didn't want to add that in the initial reply. Were they similar to the example, or different?thank you for your help in answering this, iv just done it and found it very hard... we shall see

I my mate was a host and he went to his station on day one and it was there for him and then went toHello everyone,
I was offered a start date in March, which I accepted. Uniform and Medicals are all done, I was just wondering if uniform is provided on the very first day of training, or I’ll need to go shopping for some extra bits so I can look smart while I wait for uniform issue? Thank you for your kind replies.
