Well it definitely wasn’t just for the 360s though the 360s refurb is the first big programme of work undertaken in that shed.

And 170506 appears to be back in traffic since yesterday, seems to have been a quick turnaround this time, maybe they're getting the hang of it!

I’d have thought it’s the IKEA theory, whereby the first one takes a long time in order to gain familiarity and confidence to get it right; but then things go quicker once in the flow?

I've since been told that it was actually 3 weeks late coming back so whilst it was straight back into traffic, it certainly wasn't any faster in works

Hope it’s not like the IKEA syndrome, whereby the absolute minimum amount of fittings are provided and if you get a single, little bit wrong, you end up spending ages having to come up with another, bodged way of doing it!

I didn’t realise 505 was back until I was asked to start it up the other day and found it looked a bit smarter so I’m pleased to hear 506 is back as well!

158799 should follow suit on Friday, which will make it 4 x 158s out in service.

That's the theory, it should be 4 weeks for a 2 car, in practice they haven't got it below 5 weeks yet.

158799 has entered traffic early replacing a failed 170 it seems. As expected it hasn't been painted but has had the interior refit.

Probably a good job the ex London Midland Class 170s were painted in the months prior to the transfer. It seemed really strange seeing them in Hereford.

Sometimes they even work on the Inter City routes, but with 222s being replaced as and when by 810s, it is less likely.

I was not aware that Class 170s have operated on the EMR InterCity routes into St Pancras.

158799 is back out from Eastcroft now following its TLC in there, running 2J69 at the moment, with 2F97 and 2F98 to follow for today. Also got to see 158783 on its first day back in service after refurb earlier today (image attached). Looked quite good, was running 2O16 when I saw it.

Agreed - looking at the 360s, hard to believe that construction commenced nearly 25 years ago. Ageless.
