1) Passenger

2) New build 8-car 220s with 5 cars of sleeper accomodation, buffet car and 2 cars seated (for shorter distance pax)

3) Avoiding the OA cliché of connecting everywhere with London, it would provide a useful connexion between less well served areas. Stations served (route taken in grey): Pilning – Bristol TM – Bath – Westbury – Salisbury – Basingstoke – Reading West (reverse) – Aldermaston – Westbury – Bath Spa – Lawrence Hill – Cheltenham – Worcester – Hereford – Shrewsbury – Dovey Junction – Pensarn – Porthmadog – Tanygrisiau (FR) – Blanau Festiniog – Llandudno Jct – Bidston – Liverpool Moorfields – Sandhills (via new spur) – Ormskirk – Preston – Blackburn – Hellifield – Ben Rhydding (reverse) – Leeds – Darlington – Edinburgh – Perth – Kyle of Lochalsh
2tpw, northbound only in Summer, southbound only in Winter. Flat fare of £25 for any journey would attract pax, revenue would be made on service with Michelin starred chefs providing the food, room service to cabins and pay per play films and games consoles available.

4) Best Journey. Livery would be matt black all over (no need for DDA compliant doors, a customer host would be present at each door at every station). Staff uniforms also entirely black except for red lipstick or red false moustache (at choice of staff member). Interior of train & upholstery red.

1. Type: Pax
2. Mame: Not sure
3. Stock: Given be;pw
4. Edinburgh Waverley - Glasgow - Mossend - Birimngham (Lawley St?) - New St - WCML - London

Now, you're probably thinking wtf, but basically, in my 'world' this would be a premier sleeper service. It would be 2 coaches long, and basically would use a Herringbone seating design in specially built carriages. These would have a supsension so it has an amazingly smooth ride quality and sound proofed carriages. The train would be hauled by a new loco, it would run from Edinburgh - GLC, where it would also pick up pax. It would then be propelled using a small ca[ on the rear of the second carriage. It would do this to Mossend. It would then join to the front of a freight (intermodal?) set, and would work like this:

Loco + Carriage 1 + Carriage 2 + Freight

It would work like this to Birmingham, where the freight would be left a Lawley St(?) and it would work back to New St and join to the front of the first ICWC to London, (which would use EMUs of the same manufacturor which would be dead with the loco powering) and work to Euston like that.

I am tooooo bored :|:(

After remembering about the fantasy DMU thread, I have revised the rolling stock types: in stead of class 172/4s, I would use my fantasy DMU/DEMU designated Class 190/Class 230.

Full calling pattern:

Birmingham New St
Birmingham Moor St (after Bordesley Chords built; New St no longer served)
Camp Hill Line
Kings Norton (limited service)
Bromsgrove
Droitwich Spa
Worcester Shrub Hill
Cheltenham Spa
Gloucester (limited service)
Stroud
Swindon
Didcot Parkway (limited service)
Reading
Farborough North (limited service)
Guildford
Dorking Deepdene
Redhill
Gatwick Airport
Brighton

Here's another one:

1. Type: Passenger
2. Name: Anglo-Circular Railways
3. Stock: 185s or similar
4. Route: Right, here goes:

Newcastle - Darlington - York - Doncaster - Grantham - Peterborough - Richmond - Staines - Ascot - Reading - Didcot Parkway - Bath Spa - Worcester Shrub Hill - Birmingham New Street - Wolverhampton - Crewe - Preston - Lancaster - Oxenholme Lake District - Penrith - Carlisle - Hexham - Newcastle

<:D

EDIT: Oh yes, it'll be always-running (i.e. never terminate) and run at Underground frequency.

Lots of people seem to want to use the North Downs line - is there any spare capacity south of Redhill? (I know its fantasy!!!)

How about a Reading to Ashford service avoiding London to connect with Eurostar (although I know Ashford is a bit neglected by those services now)

So you would do something like (please tell me if this is possible I am pretty much making it up as I look at the London Connections map! Quite possibly you can't get access to the right platforms etc to use the junctions, I am a novice!)

Reading - Wokingham - Guilford - Dorking - Reigate - Redhill - Tonbridge - Ashford

I guess it would have to be operated by class 170s, I havent got a clue about the name but my whole rail enterprises are to be operated under the name Vectorail (it has an arrow in its logo, like a vector - see!!!)

The other service I would like to see is actually a reinstatement of a cancelled service which I used to use alot (OK i know its not feasible to introduce a service for my personal use) which was the Brighton - Reading via Basingstoke service which also provided a useful additional fast service Brighton - Chichester / Havant!

I'd also like to see Coastline which would be a completely ridiculously long service along the south coast which wouldn't be designed for people to ride start to finish, but would provide some useful direct connections I think. (I say ridiculous, but how many peopel ride the current Brighton - Worcester service all the way?) This probably competes too heavily with existing Southern services but this is fantasy right?

Weymouth - Bournemouth - Southampton - Fareham - Havant - Chichester - Barnham - Worthing - Hove - Brighton (reverse out) - Eastbourne (reverse out) - (now it gets a bit dodgy) - Hastings - Ashford (reverse out) - Folkestone - Dover

Again this would have to use Diesel stock sadly because of just the marshlink line I think (using the marshlink at all makes it horrible I know) I think if the marshlink was electrified and doubled then dual voltage Electrostars / 319s would be fine!

There probably is not the capacity on the North Downs line, but you are more likely to find capacity on that line than going on into London with going Clapham Junction to Kensington Olympia nowadays.

If I'd be allowed to open some old lines and build a new station at Gateshead Quays (loads of room behind the Sage) and a couple along the Leamside I'd run a Tyne-Wear loop.
Newcastle - Gateshead Quays - Heworth - Seaburn - Sunderland - Penshaw - Fence Houses - Durham Parkway (P+R) (reverse?)- Durham - Durham Parkway - Fence Houses - Washington - Heworth - Gateshead Quays - Newcastle.

Have another service running the reverse on a half hourly frequency. Would have to settle for 142's no doubt as we would never get anything else here - besides we are used to them.

Would then tender Nissan for contract to transport cars to Port of Tyne to take cars off the road. Nissan - Pelaw Loop (run around) - Port of Tyne.
Not sure what to run this with, possibly a 60 - plenty of those knocking around.

As above for the Brighton - Worcester question. I think it reverses back out of Bristol? (Why don't they just make us change at Bristol and run an additional Brighton - Bristol?)

I think some of the Great Malvern services terminate at Worcester SH but I'm not sure on that one.

Hi everybody,
Right, now I realize you've had Open Access ideas on here before, but this one's different. This time can you state,
1) If it's Passenger, Freight or other (charter, hire contracts, etc)
2) What Locos/Stock you would use
3) The routes/areas or depots
4) What would be your company name (can include livery)

Thanks, Sam

P.S I'm thinking of an idea

If the answer to question 1 is passenger the other answers are:

2) None - there isnt any
3) You wont get a path/track access
4) Never Going to go anywhere Railways

If the answer is frieght then:

2) Whatever you can get hold of and/or make work from the DBS scrap/unwanted heap 37/47/56/58/60 i am not fussy ( NO REPEAT NO Class 66!)
3) Darlington/Thornaby/Gateshead/York - reopen North East/Yorkshire Coalfield, haul coal to Power Stations in Yorkshire (Simples)
4) North Eastern Peoples Republic Railway Cooperative

ALthough in honesty i would try and get hold of some DBS rejects and try and win some infrastructure haulage contacts for NR

are you some kind of communist? You can’t have one company running everything :roll: - WE NEED COMEPTITION - it will drive the price down and be much more efficient.

Hang on.......................... ;)

Decent services from London to Sheffield - ideally via Retford on ECML. If pathing and Kings X capacity limitations put paid to that, via the Erewash line stopping only at Alfreton and Chesterfield.

Im sure that FGW changed it because the Brighton was always late and now that service is usually formed of the hired SWT 158, which is usually dragged back by a SWT 159 to sailsbury on ex 2225 bristol-sailsbury, therefore the service is split into 2 services, as i believe SWT won't let their 158 go anywhere near Phillips Marsh :)

There always seems to be a debate going on about introducing fast services on the Tyne and Wear Metro.

But today, whilst awaiting my train at South Gosforth, I took a look at the Metro map and came up with my best idea for fast services yet.

The idea would mean that certain services only stopped at key stations.

So, like this.

1) Passenger charter
2) The current stock will suffice, but I wouldn't mind introducing 317 or 313
3) The route is as follows:

Starting Point: Newcastle Airport

Stopping Points

Kingston Park (major shopping area, gets busy)
South Gosforth (change for the Coast trains)
Monument (change for the Coast & St James')
Central Station (change for NR Services)
Pelaw (change for South Shields)

The trains would then terminate at Pelaw. So in one fast service, that skips out twelve stops, we cover all the major Junctions and a key shopping point. The trains would then run back in the same stopping order.

4) The company is obviously Tyne and Wear Metro (as operated by Nexus).

After about four missed stops, wouldn't the express be right behind a stopper?

Admittedly, this is a problem. But the thing is, the Express serves the major stops, such as Central Station, where you interchange with NR, and South Gosforth, where you change for the coast. These are the key stops where a majority of people leave the train, and if there was such service, the need for as many stopping trains wouldn't be as great, as you could use the express to go direct. Less people would need the stoppers, so the amount of stoppers could be cut.

So other stations lose services so that there can be a fast service?

The stoppers could call at the unserved stations and skip out those covered by the Express. An eye for an eye.

So how would I go from, say, South Gosforth (express station) to West Jesmond (non-express)? If you cut local services, you won't get good connections, and people won't use it...
