SPT’s main consideration is cost. Virtually all these contract renewals incorporate reductions to the timetables and/or routes.Perhaps not through to East Kilbride, but at the very least those last two arrivals at Uplawmoor could return to Neilston, or Barrhead, thus providing connections into train and other bus services. One would think that as SPT subsidise the service they would consider such things!
This was an optional timetable offered by the tenderer, almost certainly at a more attractive price than any other submission. Their depot is in the opposite direction to Neilston/Barrhead, so any ‘extras’ would likely have been too difficult to justify on cost grounds for the occasional passenger.
The last bus from Uplawmoor to EK was 1523, with an 1828 to Neilston Station, for which they will have passenger data - well if anyone has ever actually used it!
