I've just had a look and can confirm there was no 455 step-ups on other diagrams on Sunday, so I think it is pretty much the official first day in normal operation since their introduction no 455 ran in passenger service.

I'm not quite sure what you are doing. Are you trying to reproduce a timetable of the twilight weeks or the LTP?
I should've specified a timetable of all services, filtered to only those which routinely produce 455s.

If I am reading this correctly, I think your best bet is to down load the timetables of the suburban routes from the SWR web site (assuming they are still listed there on?), then highlight those services that bb21 has listed above as 455 diagrammed, but this list will of course be changing each week as units are taken out of service and services go over to 701., so you may need to do this on a (dated) week by week basis?

Once done, you could arrange it in a format that suits you. Just a thought?

An after thought from an old diagrammer: as things stand currently, the 455 removal period, there will likely be some diagrams that change stock type, week by week, on a planned (STP) basis, ie : 455 one week, 701 the next, 455 the next than back to 701 permanently. This sort of diagramming is a necessary must in these times, in order that both types concerned 'balance' (in number) at each location each night, and all also visit Wimbledon depot at appropriate intervals for maintenance. The published timetable does not allow for these two specifics to take place 'naturally' in all cases whilst the changeover is in progress.

In the past the normal routine, depending on the exact nature of the engineering work, would be for these to run over the Down HC line in the Up direction and use p4 at Surbiton, and these days (IIRC) that line is effectively bi-directional between Thames Ditton and Surbiton for that purpose.
There have been occasions when Up shuttles would run to p1 at Surbiton, as per normal service, then shunt across to p4 before departure, but this was always time consuming and had to fit in with through services, so was a far less used method.
Still very much possible but as you said a very time consuming method, ideally no train should terminate to return on the down from platform 1/2 at Surbiton as waiting for a route across the up fast (if terminating on platform 1), to the down fast and down slow is likely to cause delays for all other trains passing through. As someone who works at Surbiton, especially with the leaf clearing trains being more abundant during the autumn season (which would stop on the up slow/fast to change ends and go onto the down), it can be an annoyance to passengers waiting for London bound services as there's been multiple times over the last few weeks where those trains have caused delays to passenger services into as well as out of London. This Saturday will be interesting with the Guildford via Cobham trains terminating on P1 at Surbiton before crossing over to the down slow (good luck to us trying to stop any last minute runners boarding what they think is a London bound train). Also you do recall correctly, the down line between HMC and Surbiton is bi-directional between HMC and SUR, in the event of engineering works requiring a shuttle, or also if the up line from HMC is blocked for any reason, it allows up trains to wait on the down Hampton Court line before crossing over onto platform 1.

Veering slightly OT for a minute, but yes, absolutely. Back in slam door days, giving the tip and (crucially) observing a departing train, was top priority, and although these days things have changed greatly, I have seen (too many times to my mind) occasions when certain staff are distracted by people at the barrier, whilst at the same time other passengers have run up to a train in the process of being dispatched, and been jabbing the door buttons for all their worth, when (to my mind) someone should be shouting for them to stand back, for their own good. Think events on the Mersey metro not so long ago! This is not at Surbiton btw, but not so very far away.

Thanks again for posting the Saturday Hampton Court run. On the 19:54 right now from Surbiton for my likely final ride. It has made my day after a long flight. They are single tracking it so no shunting needed

A shame that you have witnessed that recently, the rule book for my TOC and I imagine every other TOC says we should be as attentive to any hazards during the entire dispatch process as much as we are for the signal, including as you mentioned people entering the dispatch corridor trying to press the door buttons when the doors have already locked, and we should firmly shout for them to stand away even if we are not involved in the dispatch process. Anyone who isn't doing that clearly isn't doing their job correctly!

Having a look over it now and I'll update if I spot anything wrong , But for your final version please upload it as a PDF and not a docx as docx's aren't the most convenient to open on mobile.

Wyrardisbury and Ashford-in-Spelthorne are an in-joke I have with a friend who lives in the Staines area. It's not like this is meant to be an official railway publication or anything!

I have no idea of bb21's sources, but from an ex planning angle, the STP stock alterations may not necessarily be issued by planning until Wednesday or Thursday of the previous week. May sound close to the wire, but that's how it was in my days, and suspect not so different now, given all this (455 rundown etc) is on top of the usual weeknight engineering work etc!

Does anyone know what was on 5B39 to Bournemouth TMD today? It has not run with a 5Xxx headcode, so I don't think it was a 458/4 and I am guessing that it was a 455, or possibly 458533. Maybe something else like a 444/450 although the Desiros tend to go to Northam A couple of hours later there was also a 5Q47 from Wimbledon Park to Bournemouth TMD. Thank you.

Correct. I can only really confirm 72 hours in advance usually. The STPs are loaded in 96 hours in advance iirc and feed through downstream systems within those next 24 hours.

Usually on Fridays so I normally get them out on Saturdays when I can.

Over on the Class 455 and 458/5 withdrawals thread it's stated that the last official day will be 23rd Dec and that they'll all be finally gone by 31st Dec because that's when the lease expires.

It looks like 455s will just about make it to 2026...
That was what I was thinking originally, as the last Diagrammed day is the 23rd December, and I had assumed that a handful would still be around to be used ad hoc by Control going in to January if needed. But reading the other related thread (455/458 withdrawals?), there is some suggestion that all 455's are off lease by 31st December - this aspect I have no info about, so will not comment, but suffice to say a point (in time) has to come when a line is drawn under this whole matter, where upon those driving the overall plan forward can say, "that's it, the 455s have gone, now everyone can focus completely on getting the remaining 701's in to traffic" (etc).

Sometimes that is what is needed, a kick up the whatsit to focus people's minds, and remove any other distractions - in this case trying to keep a handful of 455s going! Makes sense to me to be rid of 455's by Christmas, rather than let them drag on.

I agree. The tipping point must have been reached. The 701s are settled in (not really expecting any surprises). Got to let go and focus on the large number of 701s that are not yet in use.

Likely from next Monday there will be only 3 pair booked 455s diagrams...
Do you have these diagrams to hand? I’ve got a works Xmas drinks in London tomorrow and would like to try and intercept one at Clapham Junction. Would rather attempt to plan it than turning up and waiting!

Can anyone verify if the laminated posters are official or some enthusiast has put them up? They are laminated posters stuck onto the doors of the 455s.
E.g. one poster reads: “Farewell British Rail Class 455” … “This poster was sponsored by Léthaniel Metals” with a picture of a Class 455 on it
