Has anybody seen the pictures of the Barriers at Penzance station stopping you taking a front view photo of the Hst power cars ,GWR some people have paid a lot of money to come down to ride and take photos at at Penzance and probably other places en route have been denied ,Disgusted and shame on you GWR

It's a mainline railway, not a funfair, when you see the behaviour and disregard of some of the so called "enthusiasts" at times then it's no surprise that platform access is restricted, there were also notices put up at stations this week advising this.

The attitude I've seen from some on Facebook groups today has been a little depressing.

In the interests of pedantry, it should be noted that the use of 156/189 on the Newquay shuttles won’t ruin the Plymouth line up - that set was never planned to be a part.

Was always the same if not worse in the 1980/90 ‘bashing‘ days. The attitude, behaviour and general complete lack of consideration for other passengers and the operational railway was often gross. Nothing changes.

Someone will have risk assessed this and decided it is the right thing to do, not least to ensure a reliable service for regular passengers. Having heard the reports of behaviour earlier it seems like GWR were right to be cautious.

BBC spotlight was reporting at 540pm as it the last HST on GWR had run.

Oh absolutely. There was a complete clown at Plymouth yesterday who thought it was a smart idea to try climbing the base of the platform-end signal gantry in order to get a view over other people at the end of the platform. Quite justifiably they were shouted at.

Thats good. The Telegraph referenced end of service in south west and named "Scot Rail's Inter7City" services as their sole remaining use in the UK. The Daily Mail didnt explicitly state it was the end of UK use but might as well have by failing to mention their continued use north of Hadrian's Wall. The media is so London centric I am surprisrd anything other than their withdrawal from Paddington services in 2019 has been covered.

Which is the one occasion? Presumably the end of 455s or Chiltern Mk3s are two more one occasions? This is not even the last run of service train passenger 43s in the UK.

Perspective time. Being a railway enthusiast is, essentially, being slightly to very nosey about something that, unless you’re an employee and aside from knowing how your money as a tax payer is used in the publically funded bits, is generally really no-one’s business, if we’re honest.

Pretty much all offerings from the railway (especially the private companies, but not only them) to enthusiasts is an act of kindness and/or pragmatic PR. We’re entitled to nothing more or less than any other passenger. For those who are actually passengers at all.

It hasn’t been handled badly by GWR.

GWR have been left with no choice.

To be fair they did have a choice - keep them going til enough 175's were ready and not have other services short formed as a result, different if a failure however!
