I believe it was wheelflats (I'd planned to work it from Exeter down!)Today's Penzance - Exeter round trip cancelled due to brake problems.
Funny how the RHTT finishes, and hey presto you have these issues! 57301 had a very nasty slide causing a severe wheelflat and the loco and stock ending up out of service at Laira. Ironically the passengers ended upon the above HST which itself then failed with flats!43187. Same fate as 57301 on down sleeper.
What are the differences between the 4 refurbished 175's compared to the other 4 un-refurbished 175's ?There are now 8 175s at Laira (4 refurbished) so the HSTs three diagrams can be covered.

Are they going to bother fixing those HST power car issues given how long they have left with GWR?Funny how the RHTT finishes, and hey presto you have these issues! 57301 had a very nasty slide causing a severe wheelflat and the loco and stock ending up out of service at Laira. Likely yes if it’s an Angel Power Car and Stock, unless First Group fancies paying the hand back fines. Are they going to bother fixing those HST power car issues given how long they have left with GWR?
Presumably one each on P4/5 and another on the through road I would guess. Not sure what the definition of 'line up' will be, or whether it will just be three sets in the station

Thanks for the report. It’s a shame not to be able to get to the area in these last few weeks and days so good to read from people who are there.from my front garden just seen what i presume will be the last weekday HST turn Exeter to Penzance. It gave a few toots as it went through EX St.Thomas
I did my farewell runs over the course of a couple of rover visits in October and November and quite happy I did it then when things were a little calmer (from an enthusiast point of view). I had thought of doing a visit this week (maybe sleeper across, a day on the HSTs and then head home that day) but my rest day this week was taken up by other things so that will be it for me. Scotland will become the centre of my universe for (hopefully) the next few years nowThanks for the report. Very much the end of an era.

Saw it passing the river from my house in Exwick. Are they going to be any from St David's tomorrow, or was this actually the last one from there?from my front garden just seen what i presume will be the last weekday HST turn Exeter to Penzance. It gave a few toots as it went through EX St.Thomas
Last weekday one, as tomorrow is SaturdaySaw it passing the river from my house in Exwick. Are they going to be any from St David's tomorrow, or was this actually the last one from there?

Few of these did make me laugh, kind of thankful I'm not going down there for many of these reasons. Have fun all who do go for a visit, though! Someone cross these out and come back to post them here afterwards please! Was sent this by @37884 I'm hoping some of these don't happen but thought it was funny and wanted to share
There appears to be one final morning working according to RTT: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:G05298/2025-12-13/detailedSaw it passing the river from my house in Exwick. Are they going to be any from St David's tomorrow, or was this actually the last one from there?
But they’re still in service in Scotland? So 43198 as last built will bring the curtain down as last in service?
For passenger service in England, yes. Not in Scotland, or in other countries for that matter, and only in passenger service. So 43198 as last built will bring the curtain down as last in service?
Thats fittingSo 43198 as last built will bring the curtain down as last in service?
