The diagrams are in place for Saturdays and Sundays, this weekend just gone we only saw an 810 on Saturday but as said that will only be because of engineering works, so hopefully this Sunday should see one pop up

Any idea how ready 810 012 is away from appearing into service. And any news on what's happened to 810 006. I'm wondering if the traction issues at both Loughborough and Chesterfield starting from both stations either broke something or indicate an issue with the traction control system that is taking a while to resolve.

012 appeared on training runs today so should be ready for service very soon

Not sure what the issue is with 006 but I'm told it is minor

We were booked on it but EMR emailed us as we have assisted boarding on transferred us to the Nottingham train a few minutes later. I was all for trying out the 810 but my other half preferred a train with working loos for some reason.
To be honest good service from EMR to do that.

If I've had a few it might as well be on mars as an hour away! I'm convinced retention tanks and full toilets have led to a big increase in passengers 'fouling' seats and elsewhere on trains.Don't they have 'manual' door toilets too?

It's a unit which is fully fitted with its interior. So what the issue with this unit is, is unknown, most likely a rewire.

Toilets are probably locked at that time of the night /morning at Leicester.

And even if they were not, the service didn't stop for long enough to use the toilet and rejoin what was the last service through to Sheffield, so if you were going beyond Derby and had to go at Leicester, you had a choice of wetting your pants or stranding yourself.

I've mentioned this in my trip report, but I think it's worth asking here: Do the 810's have a "Toilet Occupied" indicator visible from the seats, like other classes? I saw someone go into the toilet and had a good hard stare around the end of the carriage but I couldn't see any sort of indicator light up. If this is missing it seems like a very annoying deficiency, having to leave your seat and go to the toilet entrance to find out if it is in use.

I thought the changeover was planned to be automatic using baliases?

No. During normal service power changeover is carried out manually. There are "Goalkeeper" balises to do it automatically should a Driver fail to make the change at the required location, but then it will be "tea and biscuits" in the Manager's office.
Remember that before electrification was paused, it was mean't to carry on to Sheffield, therefore the location of power changeover would change as electrification progressed.
