I did my DMI yesterday. I'd say it's a mixture of both, there are some behavioral questions (i.e similar to the MMI) where using the STAR technique will definitely help you in answering the question clearly, but it's also a lot more relaxed than the MMI and the two chaps who interviewed me were very relaxed and it felt more like an informal chat about the role as opposed to the interrogation an MMI is

Well done mate! Have they put you in a pool? Or have you been given a start date?
Alternatively do you know when they said the next course(s) are likely to commence?

I've been given a start date of January, pending successful completion of a medical and other checks. I'm not sure about other courses, I think one of the gentlemen yesterday told me about there being a course in Feb and March.

hi everyone new on here. done my online tests in September, also had radio silence till last week when got the email to invite to stage 1 assessment 4th December. anyone else coming for assessment on the 4th? which tests did you do as their info pack lists all of it, so i just know which one to focus on. Stage 1 includes all paper based tests. Your invitation email should state exactly which ones. Group Bourdon, Tea-Occ, TRP1b, TRP2 & DFFT. Good luck

Thanks, at what intervals do they tell you to move down a line in group bourdon? My practice book does 30secs and that feels like no time at all

You'll be given sheets of the dots, and you have to do as many lines as you can. They will tell you to change sheets every 2 minutes, for a total of 10 minutes or 5 sheets.

Okay they only recruit for the two depots I think old oak is the starting January I guess that’s your closest depot

i have also been accepted into February intake, currently going through giants and soon medical, can someone tell me what the qualified driver salary is? and how long does training take?

Qualified salary is just over 78K, however there is a reduced 1st year qualified rate I believe.

that's what i was thinking, Am i right by saying training is 8 months.

Training wage £37000 something
Year 1 once trained £56000 something
Year 2 they deem you a experienced driver you get full rate which I was told is £75000 something
Training is 3 months class room then 9 months with driving instructor I believe thats what I was told. Can be less but depends how quick you learn and get passed etc. This is what I was told at the dmi. I'm surprised they didn't tell you this.

Congratulations!!! You smashed it! Can you tell me where exactly you find the information on the MMI? I’m so nervous for it. I currently waiting to get rescheduled so the stress levels are already up.

Thank you. Anywhere on this forum, if you use the search function and type in any variation of "MMI questions" you'll find pages and pages of information on what the general structure of the questions are as well as how to best answer them (I.E STAR technique, ensuring you link back your example to the job of train driver etc).

Thank you, I think Old Oak Common is taking higher priority for the course spaces at the moment
