Baffling info screen on TFW 197. Any idea what it means?

Bit blurred, sorry, but can anyone tell me what this is supposed to mean? Obviously to do with toilets, and maybe 1 is occupied and 2 are available, but I couldn't understand where these toilets were supposed to be from looking at this graphic.
On a Chester - Holyhead service.

Carriage 2's universal toilet is occupied, carriage 3's universal toilet is not occupied, and carriage 4's non-universal toilet is not occupied

The screens are being revamped so they actually make it clear what they are showing. Last I heard it was to be rolled out in the new year.

TFL?

Anyway, looks clear enough to me. You are in a 5-carriage train, 2+3 coupled together.
2-carriage unit leading, you are in the front carriage, it does not have a toilet. Rear carriage toilet occupied.
3-carriage unit trailing, toilets in front 2 carriages free, no toilet in rear carriage.

It is not clear at all!
It should display in one like like it does on thameslink and Greater Anglia, there maps make perfect sense.
The picture above does not.
If it was clear enough they wouldn't be revamping the screens!

I guess whoever designed the display must have mis-read their audience!

Disappointing that it doesn't have 'dy'chi'ma' on it as well as 'you are here'

At least it's displaying something. Get on a Merseyrail and you will be lucky if the train knows where it's going.

TFW of course, I keep on mixing it up with TFL.
I suppose once you know the code you can figure out what it means, but it's hardly intuitive to the newcomer. It doesn't help that the 'You are here' is pointing to the back of the carriage when this was at the front. Also I think the rear 3 carriages were locked out of use, though maybe the system doesn't know about that.

If it does represent a five coach train (2+3), why does it show the two units as if they're side by side, with no indication of front and rear? The screen is wide enough to show the five coaches in line without significantly reducing the size of each graphic.

As drawn it makes very little sense and certainly isn't intuitive.

As OP, you can edit the thread title.

That's so poorly designed that I think there's a future career for this person/team to work on rebranding stations for GB Railway - or maybe making maps for National Rail..... :D

I remember having a similar thought the first time I rode on a 197, although it was only a single set so that made it quite a bit easier

Even while going for a low effort attempt like this, you’d have thought it would occur to someone to give carriages without toilets a colour that’s different to the background!

Worse, the ‘you are here’ arrow is NOT where you are, it’s at the RH end of the coach you are in.

Sizing is a mess on most of the info pages, apart crom the deitination and next stop pages. Small fonts unreadable from the furthest point each screen needs to be read from, inexplicable vastness of blank space.

Do you know if there is any plans to bring back some of the announcements, I know people found them annoying but the Stadler announcements make so much more sense the way their done, never understand why CAF lacks the whole 'the next stop is...', the point in a next-stop system is to let you know destination and next calling point, strange you have to wait for the approaching announcement to get the next-stop in my opinion?

Wales (sometimes in England), thanks for replying!

I've always found this strange on the 197s. There are things that Elin (for example) can say that she doesn't say on the 197s, like "this train is for..." and "the next stop is..."

Yeah exactly, it's really strange, all of the modern TfW fleet to my knowledge uses the same announcement systems as well so it's strange the 197s are lacking this where the Stadlers (and assume to be 398s) have.

You are on the top rear coach of a tetris train. The coach below yours has an available accessible toilet. However, when your train couples up to another 2 car train the bottom carriages will be deleted.

Took me several weeks of travelling on 197s before i worked out what it was trying to show. The you are here arrow implies it is showing an accurate location on the train, but it is not. Glad that the display it is being revamped, as it has the potential to be so much better. The tiny size of the time display is also annoying - an important piece of infomation which needs to be more prominent.
