It will be 20% like normal untill you get to the threshold that puts you into the 40% band, then anything you earn after that will be taxed at 40%. But it won't be your entire year wage taxed at 40%, if you Google the uk tax bands you should find more detailed information explaining it all.

I figured you’d be up closer to Swansea as I think most of my training is Exeter and Plymouth which would be a lot of travel for you

You'll be put up in hotels for the duration of classroom based training and your induction training if your home depot is more than 90 mins away generally.

Ah that makes sense. The training for Swansea takes place in Bristol and Swindon so thought everyone would go there.

They'll generally place people on courses in relation to depot/traction types etc. For example, they won't mix Reading trainees with those whom won't sign any electric traction (probably because it's easier to train one traction course with the same group of trainees, rather than move them about later on in the course).

I Did the initial tests - didn't complete many of the 'error' questions. So felt disheartened and disappointed.

Then had an email today to say I had been unsuccessful.

Then half an hour later, had an email to say that my application was under review.

I checked my portal - it still says my application is in progress.

Am I being too hopeful that I am still in the process or was it just an admin error and I was unsuccessful?

Anyone else had this today?

###update - I emailed to clarify and they advised that it was an admin error. Was sent a video interview invite the next day.

I have been unsuccessful at my DMI unfortunately, not sure why but awaiting feedback. Because i passed the MMI, does that mean i can apply for other trainee jobs from different companies and proceed straight to a DMI?

I’m in the same boat, waiting for a course start date and medical. I was told at my DMI that the next possible one was February but unlikely to hear until December but this could change.

I had completed my Video interview 2 weeks back and just received an email that i was successful and now the psychometric history check will be done.

I had completed an OPC test online around 3 weeks ago for another TOC - is this what they are referring to? or the assessment centers (no date given yet, with the other TOC)?

it also states they can put me through either, DMI, Assessment center

Yes, assuming your pass their papersift. Although some companies insist on applicants retaking psychometric assessments, but these are few and far between.

I've heard a few people have had this. May be worth emailing and seeing what's occuring. Better to be proactive than waiting I guess.

For anyone in the talent pool at Exeter, just had my conditional offer today for a start date in February so they are moving through the talent pool. I passed my DMI in July.

Great to hear. I've been on the reserve list for Exeter since I passed my DMI in early October so hopefully I might just make the next intake.

Just need to pass the medical and I’m finally in

Hopefully this brings you some assurance that there’s still places up for grabs next year.

Not sure if relevant as different depot but they let me know via a phone call and the number was generic mobile (07***etc) I initially missed the call but they leave a voicemail so just make sure you check those!

Thanks! Looking forward to it but all hinges on the medical now should be fine but you never know.

And as the other person mentioned it was a mobile that called me, I’ve answered so many spam and fake calls it’s crazy

Great to hear. I've been on the reserve list for Exeter since I passed my DMI in early October so hopefully I might just make the next intake.

Hopefully you get through as quick as I did, from DMI to offer was only ~4 months for me. Hope to see you on the rails soon!

I failed my last DMI with south eastern and am expecting one shortly with GWR for the Heathrow express role. Any advice would really be appreciated. How best to prepare? Any tips? Anything really? Currently a bus driver if that helps.
