The voyager preservation society's aim is to stop a voyager taking a voyage abroadSurely we need to wait for the Voyager Preservation Society first?![]()
True - what I was referring to was the ridicule heaped on anyone’s head at the time of Western or Deltic mania who had the temerity to suggest that in time people would mourn the passing of the Flying Banana. OK - their passing is unlikely to be accompanied by quite such a frenzy - but marked and mourned it certainly will be.Surely we need to wait for the Voyager Preservation Society first?![]()
Thank you004 was being worked on at Laira last week. Unsure if it's with a view to returning to traffic or a view to hardback.
004 only has around 10,000 miles to an F exam, so more likely having handback work done.004 was being worked on at Laira last week. Unsure if it's with a view to returning to traffic or a view to hardback.
New to this thread - can someone send an RTT link to the diagram which we expect the final Castle to be.
Much appreciated

Safer just to go to ScotlandThere no guarantee there will be any HSTs by the 13 December. GWR might want them to fade into the background. If these trains are going overseas then the buyer might want them intact.
Is this the Dec TT change? There no guarantee there will be any HSTs by the 13 December. GWR might want them to fade into the background. If these trains are going overseas then the buyer might want them intact.
Yes 13th December is timetable change date.Is this the Dec TT change?
Thanks for the info. I am going down in a couple of weeks for my swansong on them but I do have an annual leave day lingering for this year and I was wondering whether a 24 hour jaunt down in December might be on the cards. Probably not with all this going on but I will keep an eye on things and see how it plays outYes 13th December is timetable change date.
However for the first week of December the line is closed from Truro to Penzance, and engineering works webpage suggests some trains won't operate Plymouth to Truro either.
What isn't clear is if HSTs will work the shortened services during the works, and if they don't, will they be brought back for a week ahead of 175s taking over. The diagrams are fairly self contained so easy to substitute
I believe there was something planned as part of a bigger celebration, but it had to be called off.I am surprised more isn't being made of this GWR, I know they more or less said goodbye to them in 2019 for the majority of the network but even some charters with the remaining stock for charity would be popular with enthusiasts.
Now that you mention it, I do remember there was supposed to be an HST run to Paddington, as I was concerned that it was the Vintage trains service last Saturday (November 1st). It's a shame that it couldn't be rescheduled for a later date.I believe there was something planned as part of a bigger celebration, but it had to be called off.
Just reading this thread back. Am I right in thinking 43004 was the first MTU conversion ?004 only has around 10,000 miles to an F exam, so more likely having handback work done.
It did as it turns out make a return to service but, has low tyres and will be racking down those miles till its next exam quite rapidly.004 only has around 10,000 miles to an F exam, so more likely having handback work done.
Do the diagrams delineate between 2 and 3 car (or even 4) etc.?
Talk elsewhere is that this is a ‘staff special’ only. Information is rather sparse so further details are not available.Realtime Trains | 1Z76 1516 Plymouth to Penzance | 13/12/2025

Interesting movements on the 13th with a 1Z Plymouth-Penzance round trip. I'm sure someone will have more details.
Clearly not for those who want to photograph last workings as most of it will be after sunset, and second one fully in the dark.Realtime Trains | 1Z76 1516 Plymouth to Penzance | 13/12/2025

Au contraire, I think there is a certain je ne sais quoi about photographs of trains in the dark.Clearly not for those who want to photograph last workings as most of it will be after sunset, and second one fully in the dark.
Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Penzance and Truro:
Impact:
Train services running to and from these stations have been cancelled. Disruption is expected until 09:00 06/12.
Customer Advice:
Owing to a combination of train crew issues and the shortage of available carriages it is regretted that the first few services from Penzance will not operate this morning.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
List here for the sixth, pretty much same on the 13th, plus the extra two just above in this thread: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/gwr-hst-retirement-plan.295508/#post-7574018Does anyone know if there is a list of published diagrams for these GWR HSTs for this final period?
Sorry, just don’t want to scroll through a long thread.
