Waking up this morning (Sunday morning) to an autumnal mist. I love detecting the changing of the seasons, and these changes become a lot more noticeable at this time of year when there are distinct changes such as a morning mist.

I used to love doing that as an adult too. Until I discovered an increasing number of dog owners who hadn't cleared up their dog droppings - hidden by the leaves, you can I'm sure guess the inevitable outcome...

Thank you - involved climbing over two 7ft fences to access my back garden then using a neighbour’s ladder to get in my upstairs back bedroom window. My neighbour’s comment as I was just starting the ascent was “Don’t die!” Which I found very helpful…

Wife's going to New Zealand for 3 weeks on a guided tour in Feb next year, so I thought I would go up to Scotland wildlife photographing then (I go at least twice a year), but it would be nice to do something a bit special. Grants Arms at Grantown has a 6 day tour with Iolo Williams, but it was fully booked, so I phone Tuesday and asked to be put on a cancellation list...got a call this morning, someone cancelled last night - I'm on it !!!

A large hotel in Grantown on Spey that specialises in wildlife breaks. Iolo Williams is one of the presenters of Springwatch, really nice guy in person.

Went into Boots today to pick up a repeat prescription for myself. When the assistant was bringing the item to me, she looked at the date of birth on the prescription form and asked "Are you collecting this for your mum?" I said "No, it's for me," to which she replied "I would never have thought you were [insert my age here]."

I was well chuffed!!!

Thank you. My dilemma is do I take the Highland Chieftain to Aviemore, with loads of luggage (Camera and big lens, boots, change of clothes for evenings, waterproof jacket, very thick jacket...) or take the car with the risk of winter weather, which I want anyway as we will be looking for Mountain Hares!

I noticed mother in law (she had dementia) looking at cousin as she would a small child...then she pointed to companion and said to her "you are lovely, is this your dad?"
I'm dreading the day when someone points to my wife and says "is this your daughter?"...

Walked into one of our local village restaurants here in Italy for lunch today and found to my delight that the seasonal special of the day was tagliolini in butter sauce with white truffles! Absolutely divine and well worth 30 Euro....the same dish could cost upwards of 200 Euro in a smart restaurant in Rome or Milan. I can still taste them on my lips seven hours later and may well skip cleaning my teeth tonight so that I'll still be able to taste them when I wake up tomorrow morning!

Nice one! I bet you'll have a sigh of relief when it's all done. I recently did something similar and actually paying up and moving in felt like such a weight off.

My parents celebrated 55 years of marriage today. She's in a home, living with advanced Parkinson's and mixed dementia, and he is rattling around at their home, with Parkinson's, dementia, diabetes and a serious medicine regime himself. She still recognises him (and blames him for everything!) but they live the love of "in sickness and in health" and set a wonderful example to their family.

And while that makes me happy, what really made my day was being sent some pictures of their wedding, when they were oh so young and clearly besotted with each other. Whatever time they have left, I'm so glad for those youngsters that they've made it this far together
