Haslemere is very similar to those two but they are different to what is being asked in the opening post, where the centre line has no platform adjacent.

Cardonald, Hillington East and Hillington West all have 2 platforms with 3 running tracks.
Stoke’s lasted until the introduction of Pendolinos, the 07:00 Manchester-London then used the up main. But it was sensibly removed soon after, eliminating the need for approach release for the up platform line. So that’d be after 2004.
Havant also used to have this layout also; when I moved to the area in 1984 there were two through lines and two platform lines, but only one of the through lines was initially removed, I think leaving the down through line which the 00:30 MO Waterloo-Portsmouth used, although my memory may be faulty. Now, of course, it’s only got platform lines.
I don’t think either of the fast lines at Retford have a platform

Indeed they do - see the opening post, post no #1.
The down fast has a platform (sort of) but nothing has been able to stop there for a long while now.
Here is what it was once like.
Correct, but the post I replied to said it has 3 platforms "at present", which is no longer true.

Platform 1, Down Fast, Platform 2 is exactly what the OP asked for and plenty of other examples have been offered that have more than just 2 platforms. Especially if there's a 2-track block on and only the down side is being used, as occasionally happens.
I could understand quibble about something like Birmingham New Street's middle sidings but Rugby seems to be as close a fit as any other station with more than 2 platforms.

So it has opened out to "can we think of half a station which has running line between 2 platform lines" then?

Sheffield is mentioned in post #3 so apparently yes.
Maybe we need to have a clear categorisation of 'Stations that have exactly this layout' and 'stations that have this layout as part of their wider infrastructure'

Northampton has five operational platforms (all currently in use) doesn't it?

If the outer platforms are discounted it's TL-Plat-Plat-TL so wouldn't count. Stratford Int'l can only count if considering just the Int'l Plat-TL-Domestic Plat, and disregarding the additional platforms (either way round!).
