Managed to get a couple of day trips from Newcastle, for £2 each way.

Sale tickets only available for journeys between 6th and 24th October, so a wee bit limited .. but for £2 a ticket, still great value

Did you get a railcard discount? They are not supposed to have one.
The discount for a Senior Railcard was applied to the search results when I was having a look at Northern's site this afternoon, but I didn't attempt to book anything.

Be aware that Northern's website (powered by Trainline) is charging huge premiums for some journeys compared to our site

e.g. Selby to Carlisle
Wed 8th Oct @ 09:48
£57.90 booking direct or £5.20 booking with us.

Is Liverpool to Windermere possible on this sale?
Yes; very few through £2 fares available, but we find many itineraries that include promotional fares for part of the journey.

Or £4 from myself at the Ticket Office. ;) (£2 Selby to Leeds/£2 Leeds to Carlisle)

When? All sale tickets are available online.
Later the same day that you've travelled up from Leeds, perhaps?

No good if it's £2 one-way to Carlisle and another £38.80 to get back to Leeds again, or an overnight stay in Carlisle is needed.

Also £4 from us when searching separately.

I understand split tickets aren't allowed to be offered proactively by ticket office staff.

You would need to split the journey into shorter sections. £2 tickets are available between Liverpool and Preston but not beyond to Windermere.
There were some available when I looked. Our site will automatically look at splitting too.

Correction. Yes I see that £2 tickets are available between Preston and Windermere. It is a strange journey planner for the Northern flash sale tickets which doesn't recognise some destinations from other destinations. Perhaps if there isn't a through train?

Possibly unavailable if not a direct train- owing to the fact the connecting train would be either TPE or Avanti between Preston and Oxenholme?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the £2 tickets may only be available on through trains full stop?

No, they are available on journeys which involve changing trains, but I suspect the biggest limitation is whether there are any sale fares in place from a to b in the first place- for example in Yorkie's example from Selby to Carlisle sale tickets are available from Selby to Leeds and Leeds to Carlisle, but not Selby to Carlisle. I suspect sale tickets are only available between pairs of Stations where Northern advance tickets are already available.

Yes, that is exactly how it works. The sale fares are effectively just a tier of Northern Advance (DGC) that isn't normally released. If there's no Northern Advance for the journey in question, no sale fare will be available.

As others have said they are available.

I got 2x£2 from Manchester Airport to Hebden Bridge. We'll have half an hour longer in Hebden Bridge for our bus, but it's £36 cheaper and we don't have to make our own way across Manchester.

Just investigated that fare and yes, it is available on Northern's normal fare finder with a change at Salford Crescent. However if you use the "Cheap Fare Finder" below the normal fare finder, which is said to be where you find the £2 fares under the flash sale, if you put in Manchester Airport as the start station Hebden Bridge is said not to be a valid destination. The only valid destinations are destinations served by direct Northern trains from Manchester Airport. One for Northern to correct?

York to Blackpool for £2 next Wednesday for me, fantastic!

If it wasn't for the forum I wouldn't have even known there was a sale on to be honest :D
