It's basically a UK Railway specific interpretation of Godwin's Law:And how far back through a thread am I meant to read to understand that's what is meant?
You asked the question, another poster replied and I simply confirmed that the other poster was correct. Simple, straightforward confirmation done without any patronising tone. At no point did I reply “how many times do we have to repeat this?”, “haven’t you searched the thread?”, etc. I myself wouldn’t want to go through hundreds of pages to find the answer when a helpful user can easily provide quick clarification. And how far back through a thread am I meant to read to understand that's what is meant?
If all goes to plan yes, 73 days and the first should have entered service. In passenger service?
I simply asked how far I am (or anyone reading this thread) is expected to search a thread to see what LEAN means. You asked the question, another poster replied and I simply confirmed that the other poster was correct. Rogers now has his caveat for his fanfare speech - first bi-mode in passenger service in electric mode (he can’t say first AT300 in electric mode per se due to the 395s, of course).
All this is dependent on there being no brush bucket in the way though!
...except for the terrible overhead racks...The 222's were plenty spacious...
LEAN is not an abbreviation, it is a product name.We are always told not to use abbreviations. (And yes I have done and I've had admins asking me not to).
Which still a lot of people willLEAN is not an abbreviation, it is a product name.
Because my assumption was that most readers of the 810 thread would be familiar with the particularities of these bespoke units, seats included. If people are getting into the nitty gritty of the differences between these and 80x, seats are one of those elements alongside shorter carriages, four engines instead of three, etc.Which still a lot of people will
Not know, where would the harm of been in just writing seat!
It’s 3 weeks - 5 days per week and includes a week of theory and 2 weeks handling. So I’ve heard at least, that could change of course!Does anyone know what the training entails for the Class 810s for drivers? How many trips are needed?
That's a very precise figure! So Sunday 30th November if my calculations are correct? If all goes to plan yes, 73 days and the first should have entered service.
Woah- I assume that's the course length, how many drivers per course approx? It’s 3 weeks - 5 days per week and includes a week of theory and 2 weeks handling. So I’ve heard at least, that could change of course!
My betting will be a single service or return to Derby just to tick a box, and say it's done. The first will run in 2025.

It's a very loose figure as it could have up to 30 days removed from that. That's a very precise figure! So Sunday 30th November if my calculations are correct?
They have never run as a 12 car for EMR.My betting will be a single service or return to Derby just to tick a box, and say it's done.
Wasn't something similar done with the 360's, they ran a single service London to Corby as a 12 car to say they had done it.
30 days removed as in it could be 30 days earlier, or do you mean it could be a month later? It's a very loose figure as it could have up to 30 days removed from that.

LEANS means Heinz. Not everyone knows what leans means.
Although it looks like there have not been any test runs out of Old Dalby this week - every day a round trip to St Pancras has been scheduled and then cancelled.Looks like 810009 is out again today:
No, you're thinking of LEAYS...LEANS means Heinz.
(Apologies, was the first thing that popped into my head when I read that).
It could be anywhere in that specific month.30 days removed as in it could be 30 days earlier, or do you mean it could be a month later?
810010 at Aycliffe should be the next unit to be handed over/accepted by EMR, and I believe this unit will be to the required standard to be used with passengers on board.LEANS means Heinz.

Are the units at Old Dalby being proven and prepared for handover to EMR? Or is that done elsewhere?
So obviously we look forward to the first one in service, but in many ways allows boxes to be ticked and gives something for people on internet forums to talk about
However, 3(?) are needed just to cover what's already been/being stood down, and I guess more quite soon, as presumably Lumo will want all 5 of their trains refurbished and available for their new services next summer?
Add in bathtub curves of reliability and that the currently quite fragile IC operation, then to me it really only counts when there's a significant number in operation - at least 5.
So any dying down of activity at Old Dalby makes me wonder how long the period where there is a token 1 or 2 units in operation will last.
Why is LEAN capitalised but not an acronym, for example?
They have it was a single service iirc crewed by Managers as no agreement with the unions. Believe it was a few months after they started (was it a contractual reason)It's a very loose figure as it could have up to 30 days removed from that.

What's the update on 810006? I was told that was being handed over before 010810010 at Aycliffe should be the next unit to be handed over/accepted by EMR, and I believe this unit will be to the required standard to be used with passengers on board.
Do they presumably pan up beyond Wigston when heading towards Kettering ? Are there balises for that, or are the drivers trusted ?It’s 3 weeks - 5 days per week and includes a week of theory and 2 weeks handling. So I’ve heard at least, that could change of course!
I was told 006 and 010 next, so 006 could be next, however 010 seems to have a lot more activity with staff over last week or so, on test track and on a certain piece of track where they seem To spend time before leaving the factory. What's the update on 810006? I was told that was being handed over before 010
Presume its drivers responsibility, as surely if they had balises they would activate software for auto pan change?Do they presumably pan up beyond Wigston when heading towards Kettering ? Are there balises for that, or are the drivers trusted ?
More importantly, panning down before getting to Wigston on the northbound (Is it still Up to Derby in traditional Midland vernacular? )
