The Kilmarnock bridge strike in December 2024, discussed in the first page of this thread, is back in the news; the driver has been banned from driving for 28 months. BBC story here:

Darren Stevenson ignored alarms and drove the double decker under a low bridge which ripped off the roof.

”A bus driver has been banned from driving after he steered off his route and crashed into a railway bridge in Kilmarnock.

Darren Stevenson, 35, ignored repeated cab alarms and drove the double decker bus under a low bridge, which ripped off the roof and injured nine people on 19 December 2024.

Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard how the upper deck of the bus was exposed and the injured passengers included girls ands boys, aged 13 to 16, as well as a woman.

Stevenson, from Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, admitted dangerous driving and was banned for 28 months. He was ordered to wear an electronic tag for six months.”

That'll be 80193 SK25 AYY off the road now with it having hit a tree in Shortlees in Kilmarnock on the 3 and taken a chunk of the front of the top deck away, Kilmarnock are having no luck with double deckers in recent times, Deckers shouldn't even be on the town runs IMHO anyway not busy enough.

I understood they were on Kilmarnock locals because Ardrossan doesn’t yet have the required charging infrastructure for their share of the 11 route, which is where these DDs will ultimately end up.

The 4 shouldn’t have mainly shorter single deckers either, because they usually are packed between Kilmarnock & Ayr.

The number 4 has always been a bit of an outcast. Even the Yutongs were inferior to their other electric fleet.
I think a higher quality DD on the 4 would be good.
Also f you're putting DD's on that route you need to trim the trees back in Symington

Honestly, I hate what the X36 has become. Years ago, it use to be the service to get to Ardrossan, Saltcoats, and Stevenston. But ever since they cut it back to just to Dalry at non-peak times, I feel like there’s barley even a need for it existing now, which is a shame, because it use to connect those places with Glasgow City.

Especially when most of the time it’s ran using two Scania E400s (sometimes it’s an E400MMC) that don’t get as filled up really. Would prefer if they just used Scania E300s on it more often at this point, and keep the Scania E400s for the 585 and (sometimes) 11.

I feel like instead of cutting back the X36, they should have just scrapped it, and instead kept the X34. That would have been much better to keep (the X34 ran to Irvine, meaning passengers could get the 11 or 585 up to the Ardrossan coast).

More changes are coming to Ayrshire,

Stagecoach West Scotland Service Changes from Sunday 16th November 202507 Oct 2025 to 30 Nov 2025​


From Sunday 16th November 2025, Stagecoach West Scotland will introduce revised timetables across its network to better improve reliability and punctuality on bus services in Ayrshire and Glasgow.

For the majority of services listed, minor adjustments have been made to improve timetable punctuality. Services with significant changes have been highlighted below:

Ayrshire
Service 97 Ayr – Craig Tara Holiday Park
Our seasonal service 97 will no longer operate from Tuesday 2nd December, the last day of service will be Monday 1st December and will return in March 2026.

Service 12 Ardrossan – Stevenston
Services on a Sunday will now depart every 70 minutes.


Service 25/25A/B/C/D/E Irvine – Beith
Service 25 leaving Beith will now leave at 55 minutes past the hour instead of 5 minutes past the hour Monday to Friday.
The service 25 route has be revised and the new route to Irvine will travel via Chestnut Avenue, Hawthorn Avenue, Mains Road, and Reform Street, before continuing on the normal route from The Strand into Irvine.
Customers boarding at Beith Strand should use the stop on Dalry Road before Chestnut Avenue to access the revised route through Hawthorn Crescent and Mains Road.
Please note that Meadowside will no longer be served along with the following stops will not being served:


Service X36 Ardrossan – Beith – Glasgow
The 0730, X36 Monday to Friday from Buchanan Bus Station will now leave at 0725. In addition to this, some services will be altered by a few minutes, to help improve reliability.

Service X77 Ayr – Glasgow
To help improve reliability, the timetable has been altered by a few minutes.
We have also introduced the new X77K service which will increase journeys between Glasgow and Ayr. The service will also serve Kilmarnock and follow the normal X77 route.
On Sundays, our service frequency will increase to every 30 minutes.


Service 52 Ayr – Bellsbank
Evening services from Hollybush will alter by a few minutes.

Service 58/358/60/360 Ayr – Girvan – Stranraer
Services will alter by a few minutes.


Service 347 Ayr – Rankinston
The service 347 will now travel through Drongan using the same route as the service 42/42A. Customers will now catch the bus at bus stops on the opposite side of the road.


Service 1 & 9 Burns Statue Square – Masonhill - Doonfoot
Services will alter by a few minutes.

Service 7 Burns Statue Square – Castlehill Mount, Ayr
The service 7 will no longer operate and will be replaced by the service 3B. More details on the service 3B can be found below.

Service 3B Kincaidston – Whitletts – Dalmilling
The service 3B will operate hourly and will replace the service 7.
Service 3B will now operate from Monday to Saturday only. When leaving Kincaidston, the bus will travel via Burnbank Road, Annfield Glen Road, Peggieshill Road, Fenwickland Avenue, and Belmont Avenue, before continuing along Castlehill Road into the town centre. From there, it will follow the usual Service 3 route towards Whitletts and Dalmilling.
Please note that stops on Belmont Road and Dalmellington Road between Castlehill Roundabout and Burnbank Road will no longer be served.

Service 6 Ayr – Marchburn
Service 6 will now serve Ayr Morrisons supermarket after Burns Statue Square, before continuing to the Lorne Arcade between 0905 and 1445, Monday to Saturday.


Service 14 Ayr – Troon – Irvine
Services will alter by a few minutes.

Service 28A Irvine Local
Service 28A on a Sunday, will no longer serve Irvine Tesco and will operate to Dickson Drive.


Service X76 (with X71/X79/X78)
Services will alter by a few minutes.
We have also introduced the new X77K service which will increase journeys between Glasgow and Kilmarnock the service will follow the normal X76 route.
On Sundays, our service frequency will increase to every 30 minutes.


Service 1 Kilmarnock – Priestland
Services will alter by a few minutes between Galston and Kilmarnock


Service 11 Ardrossan – Kilmarnock
On Sundays, the service will now start at 0635 from Ardrossan Chapelhill Mount, and 0620 from Kilmarnock Bus Station.


Service 10 Kilmarnock – Dundonald – Troon
Services will alter by a few minutes.


Services 30 and 30A Montgomerie Park – Greenwood Academy
Service 30A will now serve Littlestane Road.

They do not mix drivers, either you do EU Citylink and Megabus or you do domestic only. No domestic driver has VF training on any Citylink vehicle

With Yutongs arriving at Kilmarnock - what will this cascade?

Does that result in Kilmarnock being fully EV service bus and just coaches diesel?

The most recent four loaned Yutongs (73191-73194) are in the process of being sent elsewhere.
73191 was driven to a yard in Leyland on Monday with 73192 following yesterday. 73193 en-route today. (Just passing Penrith).

Kilmarnock's own ones are trickling into service now that'll be why, None are tracking yet though
