Magic, many thanks
"Favourites" should include any selected Railcard 8-)
On the remembering Railcards issue it feels like something that would require a tick box for "remember my Rallcard" along with entering its expiry date. So it becomes a user choice but with expiry protection.

Yes totally agree. Treat us like adults and let those who don’t think properly pay the price.

I think a list of favourite journeys should be separate to a list of favourite railcards.

It would be nice to have a favourite list of railcards.with just the ones that I actually own.

To add a railcard to a list of favourites, I think it would be good to have an option to enter expiry date, and allow a name to be set. Then I could have railcards of the same type for different members of my family and pick the right one. It would be nice if the list of available railcards was grouped into current ones at the top of the list, with a seprator and then expired ones at the bottom. If you picked a favourite railcard where the date had expired, there should be a prompt to enter the new expiry date. If an expiry date had not been set for a railcard, then a warning to check the date before using the ticket might be good.

I don't! A favourite that only stores half the information is pointless.
Favourite journeys will include railcards. I think the suggested idea was that there would be an entirely separate "Saved railcards" list in addition to that, not replacing any features of it

Bit of a technical query, but hoping someone can help. I always download my tickets to my Google Wallet. After they have expired the wallet automatically moves them to archive passes. However, the pdf from the forum site which had two tickets in it has not been moved. The return journey from the same site has been archived so it's not everything from the forum site. Is this a known feature? Can something be done about it in future? Does anyone know how to move it from the live wallet myself?

Can you share the booking ref with one of us (or the customer support email) so we can take a look at what expiry has been set in the wallet data?

Not remembering railcards is a feature I appreciate. My partner has a disabled railcard which means that whenever we are travelling together and I am booking tickets, I use that railcard.
When I'm travelling alone, of course I can't use that railcard but I do have a Network Railcard which I can use for many journeys.
It would be very easy for me to inadvertently book a journey for myself with the Disabled Railcard applied - I wouldn't be alerted by the discounted prices because they would be the same as with my own railcard. In fact I have nearly been caught out by this on other booking sites.
Of course a user-chosen "opt-in" option could perhaps keep the greatest number of people happy.
Either way, being able to store an expiry date on the system would be great.

Cheers.

There was a bug with Google Wallet pass expiry dates that was only in production for a few weeks and was fixed August 12th. New bookings will not be affected, but unfortunately the booking you DM'd me about was booked during this period.

In the meantime, if you go into the pass options (via the menu in the top-right), you can manually Archive it:

Google Wallet travel card options screen for a Raileasy-issued ticket. Displays retailer contact email, option to add a nickname, toggles to ‘Use pass across Google’ and ‘Get notifications for this travel card,’ an external link for ‘Travel card can be shared,’ and two buttons at the bottom: ‘Archive’ (highlighted in focus) and ‘Remove.’

Ah, that explains why I had to manually archive one pair but not the others!

Unrelated other suggestion: I just did a search where I was both forcing 0 max changes and a change at York. Unsurprisingly this didn't work  - might be worth having a 'you are a dumb dumb' warning for when user has selected max change number that is incompatible with his/her change forces...

Thanks for taking the time to write this up. TTH which timetables.trainsplit.com currently points to is outside Raileasy's control (although, just to make this even more complicated, I did previously work on the frontend of it and was responsible for the styles you can see..), so this error is really one that FastJP will need to look at.

This is on my radar to alert if a search fails with no results and you have advanced options configured... Will hopefully get done "soon" now I've merged some other work which will make it easier :D

Just wanted to give a vote of confidence to the whole TrainSplit empire, including the forum site - I've previously left a positive review on TrustPilot, but feel compelled to add one here as well regarding a more recent experience...

I recently needed to bring forward a trip (booked for a Monday) with a combination of flexible and AP fares at fairly short notice. In the heat of the moment, I filled in the form wrongly to only refund (minus the admin fee) the flexible parts of the journey, rather than exchange the full set for the tickets I'd bought for travel on the Sunday instead. This being the Saturday and the automated refund coming through fairly quickly, I forlornly sent an email to correct my mistake, fully expecting not to be able to do so.

Happily, come the Monday, I got a reply confirming that the exchange had been processed, and the remaining money was being transferred - it wasn't a huge amount for me, but enough to be annoyed at myself. Thanks very much for the excellent customer service!

Bit of a strange one, but I've found that none of Raileasy's sites have worked properly for me over the past week.

e.g. if I check the forum ticketing site just now, this is what I get:

View attachment 185861

It's like it's loading user information in the top right, and loading content for the main search box also.

When I manage to get it to load, the station searches are slow, sometimes just not responding.

I've tried disconnected from personal and work VPNs, disabling adblockers/script blockers, even using different browsers.

I assume this isn't a widespread issue else it would have been fixed (but then if everybody else has the same thought process as me of just going to TrainPal etc then maybe not!)

This isn't just the forum's website FWIW, but all the Raileasy sites.
In case anyone is wondering, I worked this out.

My VPN client blocks the Google Analystics tracker and sentry.services.trainsplit.com/api/3/envelope/?... It seems that the Trainsplit sites fail to finish loading if there's a problem initialising the sentry tracker. I'll ping them an email.

Interesting, no idea what's going on there. I'll raise a ticket internally but if you still ping across to support, that would be great, thanks. Someone on the team will look this week or next :)

Apologies, I edited my comment after realising it was the 'sentry.services.trainsplit.com' tracker, not GA :D But yeah I'll ping it across with screenshots

Hmm. I'm fairly sure most of the engineering team uses content / ad / tracking blockers, and I've not heard of any reports of this nature.

Do send an email acros nonethelesss, but it'd be useful specifically to know how the VPN is achieving blocking things in case it's somewhat esoteric.

sentry.services.trainsplit.com tracker
For the benefit of the thread (you may well already know this), Sentry is an open source error monitoring tool, it's not used for "tracking" in the traditional sense of the word. We use it to understand if the product is broken or slow for users; its data goes nowhere near any marketing or business analytics functions.

Even so, it shouldn't be a critical dependency.

I've mentioned in the email the VPN and sent screenshots.

I recently switched VPNs, so this tracks that it's a specific tracker blocker.

It may not be tracking for marketing etc, but even for error reporting, arguably it's still tracking. Just my tracker blocker happens to be stricter than most!

But yes, agreed, the pages should just work regardless of the tracker being blocked basically.

I'm intending to travel from St Albans City to Kew Gardens and back this Saturday, coming back before the Mildmay line stops running past Willesden. The ticketing site only offers a one day travelcard for £19.70 but it is possible to purchase a cheaper off-peak return for £17.90 from the Thameslink site. No prizes for guessing which site I'm going to use!

Or contactless changing between West Hampstead/West Hampstead Thameslink is £7.40 single, £14.80 return.

I have asked FastJP to look at why

I'm not sure how the UX for this would work, but would it be possible to show splits where one part may be a slightly more expensive 1st class?

That is, at the moment, you can get prices for standard class or prices for 1st class, but not prices where only part of the journey is 1st class and the other is standard class even though 1st is offered on that leg or ticket (I'm aware that it currently shows 1st tickets where 1st may not actually be available and it highlights this, but that's a different case).

I've thought about this before but was reminded of it today when I saw a Metro travel columnist mention it: https://metro.co.uk/2025/09/27/first-class-train-hack-annoyed-boyfriend-saved-us-a-fortune-24270565/ (please disregard the irrelevant bits such as the author describing Crewe station as being 'in the middle of nowhere').
...I quickly discovered that an advance one-way journey from London to Carlisle (on December 20, 2024 at 12:33) would cost £52.90 in standard thanks to a split-ticket fare and a Two Together Railcard. First-class, however, came in at a whopping £113.40 – even with the railcard applied – which was way out of my budget.

That’s when I found a one hour and 54 minute Crewe to Carlisle leg for just £37.25 in first-class with a Two Together Railcard. Even a standard ticket was only £11.30!

And the train between London and Crewe an hour earlier was even cheaper – just £23.60 each with a railcard.

So all in all, I’d managed to nab our entire journey for just £60.85 each – only £8 more than a standard straight trip – but with nearly two hours of it in first-class with free food and drink...

Am trying to book Birmingham New St to Carlisle during the S&C diversions but I can't coax the Journey Planner to come up with the quickest (diverted) journeys when the S&C service starts at Wigan North Western (WGN).

As an example on 02/01, the 12:07 off New St arrives at WGN at 13:37, with the connection leaving WGN at 13:53 and getting in to Carlisle at 16:28. If I pop a simple New St to Carlisle search at 12:00 into the Forum Site, it recognises a 16:28 arrival, but wants me to either catch the 12:01 XC or 12:04 LNR to Stafford, and then change there onto what is the 12:07 from New St there (i.e leaving a couple of minutes earlier and adding an extra change). If you pick the journey starting at 12:07, you're made to change at Crewe with a 2+ hour wait for the next Avanti which connects into the 18:32 arrival into Carlisle instead.

I tried restricting to just Avanti trains, just trains via Warrington to cut out any other routes and both filters (though that returned no results full stop) but can't get the 4.5-ish hour journeys to show. If I pop the same journey into the Avanti site, the quicker one change journeys come up straight away so I don't think it's a reservations issue. Interestingly for the journey two hours earlier, where the S&C train starts at Wolves, an all-Avanti journey with a change at Stafford shows up on the forum site though not yet bookable.

If anybody knows what the settings are to get the quicker journeys to show up without a two hour wait somewhere, I'd be very grateful!

(Image shows a 12:00 Birmingham New St to Carlisle search on the Avanti site, with the quicker 4.5 hour journeys the only ones showing)

Trainsplit change at Wigan and Avanti only worked for me and gave the exact itinerary you described

Amazing, thank you! :)

As a more open question is there a reason that this doesn't come up immediately without having to set any filters as I think it's the fastest + cheapest journey?

Can someone link to the URL for the journey search with the correct itinerary?

Or alternatively can the itinerary be typed out in listed format please?
