I’m going to go on a Christmas carol experience, can anyone suggest when the black five would (potentially) be running

I had a great day at the railway today. Class 20 was in fine form, the 8F was impressive on load 8 up the valley. It was also my first time travelling on the 101 too which gives great views of the line (it always seems to be the Pacer when I visit normally).

I’ll probably be heading back tomorrow to travel behind the 8F on the service train and to view the Class 20 on load 8 :)

You'll be disappointed as there is no theatre performance (or train) - that's why they are putting the 8F on the service train.

They are running a couple of extra DMU round trips, including one non-stop Haworth-Keighley. Check the website!

Thanks! …I think one of the volunteers may have not realised it was a Bank Holiday tomorrow :D

I’ll still head over for the 8F anyway :)

There are no Monday performances all season (there's a random Tuesday matinee tomorrow though).

I had a nice trip behind the 8F today, although it was being driven very carefully due to the extreme fire risk. The 101 was out instead of the advertised Pacer. The line was doing a decent trade on both days I visited :)

A 101 substituting for a Pacer is just like the old days!

That 101 is a beautiful job. I had a spin on it on a rainy day last autumn and it was so reminiscent of my childhood, the look, the feel, the smell even

With 20031 shoving at the rear as 78022 wouldn't be able to haul 8 coaches on it's own.
A very impressive piece of improvisation by the loco department, also involving Vulcan on the service train for one trip, and with virtually no loss of time. Very fortunate that D8031 is back in service, sad that 48305 was unable to perform for the last weekend.

Yesterday the 8f failed and the standard 2 hauled the Railway Children special!!
The Standard 2 or the Standard 4? I was there on Saturday afternoon and saw the 4 being prepped; KWVR socials referred to the Standard 4 working for the show.

D0226 did work in the morning; I was parking up at Ingrow and saw 78022 run light to Keighley, it then top & tailed with D0226 back up the valley before working the rest of the diagram solo.

The standard 2 did the morning with the 20 to assist while the standard 4 was warmed up

Not quite (I was working on the service train):
D0226 worked the 1100 round trip solo
78022 plus D8031 worked the special TnT to Oxenhope and ECS to Haworth loop
78022 ran LE to Keighley for the 1255 (with D0226 on rear to get it - D0226 that is - back up the hill).
75078 worked the remainder of the specials.

Thanks - that fills in the blanks. I just cursed that I'd missed a chance for a ride with D0226 as we were still at the VCT when the T&T arrived.

Those visiting this weekend will notice a hive of activity around Haworth with the track from Bridge 27 (the bridge renewed last year) to Haworth station set for relaying by volunteers next week.

It's a follow on from last year's bridge renewal which led to a slight change in the alignment (horizontal and vertical).

Ta, I'd missed the explanation.

I've edited my last post as I spotted an ambiguity.

A few updates:

The Class 37075 confirmed has having an earth fault but no flashover and the owners are looking to repair the loco, but this will take some time as the power unit needs removing.

The Standard 4 society has disbanded, with 75078 & 78022 being handed over to the KWVR proper.

The former Royal Oak pub opposite Haworth station has been purchased by the railway. The upper floor will become offices to save the railway renting offices, commercial plans are being drawn up for downstairs, but for planning purposes it remains designated a pub…

The railway has had a good year for fares and catering sales, with them being up £200k in the first 6 months of the year, but whether that converted to increased ‘profit’ after inflation and increased costs, who knows? The Railway Children event and diesel gala have proved popular.

[Source KWVR Push & Pull magazine]

Membership remains inexpensive, fantastic value and includes 3 ‘free’ day rover tickets, so pays for itself. If you can become a member please do. (I have no relationship with the railway beyond being a regular visitor and member).

I’m guessing 20031 will be on the Santa specials

Plus discounts every other time you visit (including galas) and a discount at the on-train bar - the more you drink, the more you save!

Hopefully it will be out for the Diesel and Ale Day on September 27th.
Hopefully for next years diesel gala (the 25)
2032 is the next Year of the Rat, but I hope it is back well before then!
