This is technically an internal vacancy.

If you look here - https://careers.gtsr.co.uk/jobs/vacancy/find/results/ it doesn’t come up.

Not sure how they’ve found the url, but I imagine you’d be rejected if you applied externally.
I’m pretty sure this is an external link, as it’s not part of the internal web address. I’ve got the internal address link as well and they both different.

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

And last time this was advertised to Elizabeth Line internals was around 4 months ago, most of them would not be able to apply again due to the 6 months wait. So it would be hard to replenish these internally again.

I’m confused how they can run a women only advert. Surely that’s discrimination?

I think they have been a bit strategic in how they have advertised it. The advert states they don’t discriminate on any grounds near the bottom, so it looks like it’s open to all, but unless they add it to the careers page then it’s gonna get mainly women from where they have advertised it so far.

I don’t think “they” have advertised it anywhere. As I said, it is not an openly available vacancy without the link.

The Womeninrail.org got a specfic external link compared to that if of the one from the internal campaign which has the intranet bit in it.

I do think they're intending to have an external campaign incase the internal one doesn't generate numbers. After all quite an amount of internals did not get past the OPC and so are locked out for at least a year from the application process.

Others that haven't applies potentially locked out due to 6 month probation. If they need 8 and less than 1/10th made it thru to interview on the last campaign then I believe they've got the external link out as a backup.

I think they made a mistake it was meant to be advertised internally

Quoting ‘They’ like that is a bit rude considering you haven’t checked it. I followed the advert for a few seconds, and it has the usual questions about applying, such as ‘do you live within the advertised time limit from the depot’ etc. One of the questions is ‘Are you currently a GTS employee’, I put no, thinking by your assumption that it wouldn‘t let me apply, but of course it does.

I have checked it. I know it was meant to be internal only. That doesn’t stop someone or an organisation having the correct hyperlink and - if it is not blocked off - being able to access an internal posting.

It’s just been badly set up.

By asking the GTS employee question, I think it’s highly likely if you say “No”, you will be rejected unfortunately. But I’m keen to see if anyone does get through who is external!

Indeed.

Indeed.
So could they in reject an application purely based on someone’s gender? Surely that opens a can of worms

No - who suggested they could?

The Women in Rail thing is a red herring - as far as I can tell it shouldn’t have been available externally but it has been and here we are

I don’t know. It’s not even meant to be advertised there! I am aware it is advertised internally to GTS employees.

90% of internals unable to apply because of the 6 months wait

You are presuming everyone is interested again of course plus everyone applied the 1st time.

Anyway, it seems like the recruitment listing has been a bit of a mess.

I’ve never understood the “ internal only “ route especially the LU policy that only internal people can become drivers. That’s like saying police/ fire cadets can only apply to become firefighters/ police officers

1 year wait, regardless yes a lot would be missing from this internal campaign. I knew from several people over there, how hard it was to get time off to prepare for the tests let alone get down to the assessment day due to the amount of staff that applied and were thru the process.

It definitely won't be as high now, especially as they were hot with the 60min distance from Abbey-Wood depot which meant those that passed dmi but were outside the limit, got placed in a talent pool and then eventually of recent some given a seat for old oak.

Trainee driver jobs are incredibly competitive and sought after, it is a very easy way to cut down the applicants and still get a good range of candidates. It also supports internal company development and morale somewhat.

It will probably be advertised externally on Wednesday. They usually advertise the first week internally, then second week internally and externally.

This is an internal vacancy and requires a valid GTS email address for you to apply - your application will be rejected if you apply with your own personal email address.

You don’t need a GTS email apply, I was ex Elizabeth Line and the portal was for anyone. And even if you applying internally you don’t need a GTS work email.
