In one of the end coaches, when pantograph is raised it points in the direction of where the ex first class is.
There's a diamond shaped marked beside the unit number and that's the composite coach which have the ex first class section in there

No increase in 730/2 diagrams from Liverpool this morning. According to RTT the 0608 is 217 and the 0633 is 233. The other six diagrams are still 350s,

Interestingly, 217 is scheduled to end up at Soho tonight, rather than going back empty to Crewe. Perhaps it will appear on a service which starts in Birmingham tomorrow. We shall see.

216 was on Soho on Thursday with about 11 730/0's

Saw this move happen tomorrow, not sure what’s the purpose of this move? Storage?

Today's 06:33 Liverpool to Birmingham service was a 350 instead of a 730/2.
Do we Need those reporting? Set swaps happen all the time. Irrelevant wether swapped between new or old stock

Well I've sampled a couple of these new units out of Liverpool and was actually quite surprised to be honest.
People saying the seats are better than the 350's they are replacing... I couldn't disagree more!
They are bolt upright and I wouldn't want to do any serious journey on them at all, was pretty glad to get off at Crewe!
The rest of the interior ambience is quite nice and the ride is nice but, IMO, the new seating is terrible!
A few more degrees of recline would have made all the difference IMO.

What a strange path, how come they’re doing something opposite? The 350/2s are starting to withdrawn but instead they’re not taking the 730/2 out of storage?

Normally they go to Gascoigne Wood for modifications/rectification work.
this could be a unit that has not yet entered passenger service .

What are these for?
5G99 0905 London Euston to Soho L.M.D.
5A99 1209 Soho L.M.D. to London Euston

This has been mentioned before but nobody has yet suggested an answer.
A pair of 730/0s runs ECS every weekday between Euston and Soho L.M.D. They are in normal passenger service to/from Euston for the rest of the day so it's not a test run.

They stop at a few places on the way. RTT reports some of these stops as "for staffing reasons".
Originally I thought this was for stock transfers. Occasionally one of the units gets swapped at Soho but on most days it's the same pair that returns to Euston.

What is the purpose of this service? It seems extravagant to run a 6-car train on a round trip of over 200 miles just to move a few staff around.
