They've sent an e-mail round tonight giving a few restrictions on what can be brought in; among these is a bag size limit of A4 in size and 20 litres capacity. That one is interesting because most 20 litre bags are somewhat bigger than A4 size...
...and beware, those who have swapped or sold tickets - they have indicated they will be randomly checking tickets by checking the bank cards used to buy them with...

That statement contradicts the below quote, and a few others that have stated that they've contacted the organisers about gifting tickets at zero expense with the reply showing no concern about it.
I ended up paying for two sets of tickets as a result of the original ticketing farce.
Despite asking for a refund, I ended up with a second set of tickets being issued anyway.
I did manage to find a friend-of-a-friend who wanted them, so told Greatest Gathering team that's what I'd done, and I no longer required the refund, and they didn't raise any kind of concern about the transferability at that point.

That's going to be difficult to do for those people who bought tickets during the original 'Mortons' farce, paid with PayPal, and then got replacements via SeeTickets. No way the person scanning the tickets could even know what the original card used was!
Even if it was the case, there is nothing in the original T&Cs that say all holders of tickets on the same order must arrive at the same time.
Suspect it's just a threat trying to discourage touting.

Interesting... I wonder if the people writing the e-mail haven't fully checked with everyone else.
There's also a bit of a contradiction in the e-mail itself... it says no bags bigger than A4 size, yet immediately - in the same line - says bags up to 20 litres capacity are OK. Which suggests a 38 x 27 x 18cm shoulder bag should be acceptable, that working out at 19 litres, but A4 size is 21 x 30 cm - quite a considerable difference...
I've just mailed them querying this; I'll report back if I hear back before Thursday afternoon.

Having thought more about it 12,500 is perhaps not that large a number. Less than half the number that turn up at nearby Pride Park for a Derby County football match.

Alstom should not be doing this; as far as payment card security is concerned it's very bad practice. Only the retailer (the booking agent) who holds the merchant agreements is allowed to do this, and only then via a controlled method, i.e. electronically.
There was an incident at a festival in Holland not that long ago when an employee was carrying out a similar inspection.... whilst wearing a covert camera which recorded card details.
Agree about the bag size being a little too restrictive. This is something they need to look at urgently. Can you only have one bag or multiple? There are retailers there so want to be able to carry merchandise.

I had a reply to my e-mail querying the bag size limits:
Me to them:
A quick question please... how are you defining A4 size for bags? Screenshots below from tonight's e-mail from your team and from a size calculation website.
My shoulder bag is 37 x 27 x 18 cm which equates to just below 19 litres capacity and is therefore within your rules, but that's clearly bigger than A4 which is 21 x 30 cm.
Will I have a problem with my bag or not, please? The contents are my camera, spare camera battery, two small ( plastic! ) bottles of water, hat in case of rain, notebook and a very small ( fist sized ) pair of binoculars.

Like many people I'm travelling from another part of the country (Suffolk), by train (now there's a shock) the afternoon before to Nottingham and staying in a Premier Inn. So how can I take a couple of bits of overnight kit, wash bag, diabetic insulin and tablets, spare emergency food all in a bag the size of an A4 piece of paper?

ah, Peter Mugridge post went up when I was typing mine!! does beg the question why they didn't put "The main thing is that whatever you bring, you can carry it on your back for the entire day", in that email that was sent out. Thanks to Peter for getting some clarification on that.

But Shildon?? If it was coming off a possession, you'd expect the previous Bishop Auckland workings to be cancelled, which they aren't. And it could be the "nearest fit" timings for something out of the ordinary. I'm not convinced either way though!

67005? That's at Shildon at the moment and the schedule is for a light DB Cargo light loco.

Seems like the Class 93 cab ride is £93, which is a tour of the cab and a ride up and down twice.
The steam ride is free with 44932 and a Class 37, I'm guessing WCR and probably their stock as well.

There is always the Stasher app - so depending on how far your Premier Inn is, a small about of money to leave whatever items you want at the Premier Inn whilst you visit Litchurch Lane.
Sounds like they could do with one of these pop up temp bag store places. Twickenham has one for fans visiting the Rugby (and no doubt to make sure fans aren’t bringing in less expensive beer than that sold by the stadium either!).
