They don't though. Certainly not from my experience. Merseyrail works differently as they almost exclusively hire low and promote. I've never seen a driver advert even working for the same wider company. Can't even move as a PQ driver from within Abellio to Merseyrail
Well from my experience they do for example northern an internal candidate will be interviewed take tests and start the driving course before an external candidate

I think they are now processing York applicants. I received an email asking for my national insurance number so assume my application is being looked at now.

Yea that suggests they’re up to the point of checking who’s already done what in the psychometrics

That's the first time we've heard a positive reply!

Not sure its positive, its probably just a sign they're now looking at the York applicants as I've heard no form of update from any York or Scarborough applications, probably due to the volume...

At least its moving.

Not heard anyone be asked for further details, though I'm sure I was asked in the initial application.

It's the first email that's not been a rejection in a few days

True. I've been seeing the rejections coming through and im waiting for my turn. A bit negative but I appreciate you have to be in it to win it despite the high rejection rate so there's always hope.

The only thing I've noticed is that no-one from York or Scarborough have heard anything.

Indeed, it's the hope that kills you!

I'm in for Manchester so I'm hopeful as I haven't yet been rejected

Until invites start going out and then not so much. Always the way with railway recruitment - weeks of silence!

I haven’t had this email from York. That may be a positive that you have. Might be double checking N.I before sending out an email for the next phase ‍♂️
I got it mid afternoon so they could be in the process of sending out the requests, so you may get one tomorrow.

Did you have to submit two separate applications for the two depots?

Well done! That's the 1st invite we've seen.

What dates were you given? Where is the assessment day being held?

I think the AI interview is a big thing for this recruitment drive.
I sailed through everything last time round with TPE, have full enhanced psychometrics and have passed the error checking every time I’ve done it (4 times in my ‘applying career’) doing about 38 out of 50 each time, but just had my rejection. Piccadilly depot.
