In the last few months, 700s and 717s have been showing ALL doors as not opening at the next station. The doors do still open, but there must be something wrong with the recent PIS software. I've also seen one coach within the train showing it, when the ends are not.
I have had one of the 8 coach trains think it is a 12 coach train (even on the diagrams)

Going back to the topic any changes to diagrams / units? I keep looking at the table above but seems to be all the same trains. Likewise I haven’t had the 379 show up on an new trains (Monday - Friday)

I haven’t seen the 387/3s for a while, not sure if they have left or just not on the diagrams I use. The Green 387s are still around. Just wondering when the next batch is likely to be introduced or if they are waiting for the 1st batch to settle down. The regular cancellations of the 379 diagrams doesn’t seem as back South of Cambridge now.

Do GN Class 387s still regularly run diagrams to Peterborough? Or is that solely operated by TL Class 700s? Also will once the full roll out of the Class 379s has occurred, will they run said diagrams? Thanks

I believe that the 07:34 PBO - KGX is 387 operated and there's an evening return aswell but can't remember which.

On weekdays do Class 379s now run regular diagrams to Kings Lynn? Also nowadays, do Class 700s ever run diagrams their? or is it just in the hands of 387s and 379s?

Still one 700/0 trip a day to Kings Lynn. 0602 from King’s Cross and corresponding return working. Can’t remember but there might be a trip or two on Saturdays as well.

Yes the 0440 or 0540 from Kings Lynn (can't remember which) the 1030 arrival and subsequently the 1042 departure) and both the 1710 and 1740 departures from King's Lynn (and corresponding arrivals).

Without me trying to jink it, but I think that there are more 379s which are coming to Hornsey depot tomorrow, 22nd July 2025.

There is an interesting article about the 379 recommissioning project on the Modern Railways website. The main points are:
  • All 387's that are going south will do so by December 2025, all 377's that are going to SE will do so by November 2025.
  • All 379's in service by May 2026.
  • First 379 with ETCS will undergo testing next year.
  • 379's will not be receiving Project Aurora mods as they already have most of the equipment that forms part of that refurbishment.
  • 379's and 387's will not be able to work together in service nor will there be any modifications to make this possible.

379020 seen in service today on 0842 KGX-KLN. No idea if it’s the first time in service though
I beleve that 020 was first used for a period back in March, before been parked up first at Peterbo, then Hornsey. So whatever the problem was is now fixed ! BW DC

So with 020 now back in service, I think this is the spread of the fleet

It allowed me to read the Modern Railways article once (it says I need a subscription now) and it said something about some trains going into service before the modifications were added (Tracklink and stuff) and that they'd be parked up somewhere for a bit before they'd be taken to Hornsey for the modifications. It said this was to get them in service quicker

I wonder if the remaining 387s from May 2026 will remain on Ely and Kings Lynn fasts or if those will be exclusively 379 with 387s concentrated on the more stopping services. Currently they interwork of course.

Can't find it now but somewhere in an internal announcement the plan was they will predominantly to be relegated to the peak additional 1Pxx and 1Lxx like the 365s were. However, 379's are far from all being bedded in and of course a slightly fewer in number than the original 387 fleet so imagine it will change as needed.

Everything north of Cambridge from December 2025/May 2026 was planned to be 379 operated at one point, with 387s filling in on a mix of peak extras and stopping services. Not sure if that's still the case though.

Two drags from Worksop listed on RTT this morning and one currently, 5Q40, is labeled as 'activated'. Might be a lucky day to get two Hornsey drags as 387101 is due to be taken to Derby early this afternoon. (Update: 5Q40 is allocated 57310 + 379018 and 5Q38 not running)

I saw a 700 at East Croydon the other day which stopped at the platform showing 'Door out of use' (or something like that) in red next to every door on the train. Unsurprisingly, some passengers on the platform were starting to panic a bit ... (obviously they opened eventually)

Since the 379s have started to be introduced, are 700s now being replaced on the fast services via Cambridge?

Unfortunately not. They replacing the 387s only now. However I understand from December you should be rid of the 700s. Not sure on the stopping service if the 700s will remain

379021 was seen in service last week, don’t think it’s been out before.
379010 has been in Nene sidings on its own for a few weeks now.
379019 is now stored in Ferme Park
