So it's not running, that's promisingTo save anyone the bother here's a photo of the 756 at Penarth (5Q11) very quiet.
PS I think turbulence is the last thing to worry about for trains 'passing' at Penarth
Saves me going out then. I've been keeping an eye on RTT just in case they started later in the day but once the allocated 756111 was removed, that pretty much sealed the fate of the other workingsTo save anyone the bother here's a photo of the 756 at Penarth (5Q11) very quiet.

Should be 756001,756002 and 756003Does anyone know which 756s are currently at Barry. 756006 can be clearly seen at the east end. There is one behind the depot and two others at the West end obscured by undergrowth. Does anyone know which these are please
Thank youShould be 756001,756002 and 756003
756001 was observed at Canton 29.05.25, by a process of elemination on 29.05.25 when all other 756/0s were seen, the two in the undergrowth at Barry Stadler Depot must be 756002 and 756003. The two at the other end of the depot on this date were 756006 and 756110 (clearly identified from passing train).Should be 756001,756002 and 756003
The 231s will either go over to the TAM lines or will go spare. During the recent closure, several diagrams were Caerphilly - Barry Island - Caerphilly - Bridgend - Caerphilly - Barry Island etc, so that limits 150s to most diagrams when Rhymney - Caerphilly is closed. With the impending closure of the Rhymney line for electrification work will the number of Class 231s in service on a daily basis change? Will the Class move onto other services during these periods?
Shows as been at Canton since 22nd May.Having just spent two days in Cardiff this week our group did not see 231004. Is is unit currently out of service please?
Many thanks SDO733 for the information. Hopefully we will try again in August.Shows as been at Canton since 22nd May.
If anyone fancies a night trip look up 5Q20 running Barry Tourist Railway to Caerphilly passing Heath Junction at 01.29. Back at 03:01 on 5Q23. Schedule 14 June so early hours of tomorrow morning

Looks like 756106 did Barry Depot to Caerphilly and back in the early hours of Saturday morning. That must be the first 756 on the line.
First to Caerphilly though. No - there was an overnight test run with a 4 car 756 a while back, that even made it to Coryton.
First to Caerphilly though.
756006 entered service today! Is there any danger of the remaining 756/0s entering service any time soon?
There are more moves scheduled for Sunday between Coryton and Penarth. 5Q10 and 5Q11 in the morning and then 5Q18 and 5Q19 in the afternoon. We will see if they run.
Thanks for letting us know756006 entered service today!

The final sentence, which I've highlighted in bold, is the only relevant part of that response.I wonder are the failure to do these Sunday test runs a direct result of the Sunday Driver cap? Just image if any other company had an agreement like this with their work force!
This was a FOI to TfW from a few years back.
Question to TfW:
“I would also be grateful for clarity in terms of how many Sundays drivers are currently required to work in a year as part of the current contract.”
TfW Answer:
The driver agreements inherited by TfW Rail from the previous private sector operators do not cap the number of Sundays an individual driver works. Rather, the total number of Sundays that can be rostered for train drivers across the company is capped at 168. Drivers who are rostered to work Sundays as part of that 168 have a contractual obligation to work. However, once leave, sickness and other reasons for absence are taken into account, fewer than 168 drivers are actually available. This leads to reliance on drivers volunteering to work “additional Sundays” for which they are paid at an enhanced rate. As the amount of Sunday mileage has increased in the timetable, the 168 cap has further tipped the balance towards reliance on overtime. Even as the overall driver population increases in readiness for future timetable enhancements, under the current agreements, the 168 cap remains absolute. There have been a number of attempts to increase the cap, but none have so far been agreed with the company council reps. This is why a “Sundays inside the working week” solution provides a more long-term answer to the security of Sunday cover.
Is that a new development? When was that agreed? The final sentence, which I've highlighted in bold, is the only relevant part of that response.
Sundays are now inside the the working week for drivers (and guards) at TfW.
I assume it was a while ago now as I've never had a problem with TfW sunday service due to a lack of staff in a long while. Is that a new development? When was that agreed?
Good to see the sunday problem being resolved in any case!
