I used the shuttle bus from Cardiff Airport to Rhoose Train Station yesterday.
A couple of observations......
The signage at Rhoose Station is terrible for foreign visitors. A Dutch man and myself were the only people on the bus. I went to the correct platform but he disappeared. He went to the other platform and then returned and asked me how to get to Cardiff?, saying "where's Rymi?" I explained it was Rhynmey and yes this train does stop at Cardiff. Rhoose does have staggered platforms which makes is even more confusing and when the barriers come down you can get stuck on the wrong platform, until the train you want has departed.
I can see his confusion, for a supposed 'Airport Train Station' where the vast majority will be trying to get to Cardiff there was no signs, just the bilingual dot matrix display listing all the stations the train would be calling at, first in Welsh then in English. You would have to stare at it for over a minutes to catch Cardiff amongst the other 20 or so destinations in both languages. Most people would expect the destination to be main city the Airport serves as this would be the case for most airports.
So why on earth can't TfW put up a sign saying: Notice to Airport Travellers "Platform 1 for trains Cardiff Central" they could have it in French/German/Dutch ?
It seems in TfW's strive to promote Welsh they have forgotten the bigger picture in how to communicate with people that are not from Wales.
Second point, despite a full plane only two people using the train, bus driver wanted to know was the plane empty or what!
