I did capture a video yesterday of 333008 passing Fitzwilliam on its way from Neville Hill to the sidings at Doncaster station, have to say it did sound like it had two awful wheel flats. It was like the olden days of seeing a Heathrow Express 332 with very noticeable wheel flats.

I'm thinking of doing a Doncaster 333 on Tuesday; as stated above 333006 is still at Skipton on chocks so the original PIS is almost guaranteed!

I went on a 333 to Doncaster this morning, I have to say it was a pretty strange feeling being on the trains I'm so used to on the Airedale & Wharfedale Line. It makes a refreshing change I'll say.

It was strange when we were in South Yorkshire and I saw the maps in the vestibules with Airedale & Wharfedale Line stations onto Bradford Forster Square, Ilkley & Skipton.

Oh, and the Doncaster Train announcements were working too! Definitely nice to see!

Did you record it for youtube?

331s out on the Leeds - Skipton diagrams today that we're previously fairly solid 333. Good stuff. Unless they're too busy!

Are there still 333s on this, or is this exclusively 331s now?

Not going too well so far for the 333s on the Doncaster services. Both 2B16 15:27 Doncaster to Leeds and 2B13 15:21 Leeds to Doncaster have been cancelled and replaced by empty stock movements, due to a shortage of train crew.

That’s not really anything to do with the type of train used though is it.

I’ve done a return journey Sandal & Agbrigg-Leeds on Saturday evening and returned this morning on 333’s and they were a nice change and are pleasant units inside when quiet.

The 331’s on the route were crush-loaded at Peak commuter time, so the extra carriage is really needed. I’m intrigued to see how 2+3 seating is received however.

A couple of services were/will be 333 today, but the two diagrams that shuttle up and down all day have both been 331s.

A slight delay happened on my service because the drivers are still getting used to the 333's on this route as I'm being told, just 4-5 minutes late into Doncaster.

It's not the rolling stock that's the issue though, although some think that due to the slower acceleration.

333s are very slow to accelerate compared with a 331; the timings are set for 333s but they take a lot more nursing to achieve those times than a 331. Around the Triangle if you lose time in a 333 you won't get it back (but will be able to avoid getting any later, unless something else happens), but you can claw several minutes back over the course of a journey in a 331. I tend to drive 331s at 75% traction and no more than 40% on the CPBC, and it will still out-accelerate a 333.

I wonder if any 331 drivers still use 100% traction power? I remember the 331/0s being incredibly fast when they first started in the North West.

Another thing I found really interesting when taking the 333's down to Doncaster, is looking at the Airedale & Wharfedale Line map stickers in the vestibules and being in South Yorkshire... It's so strange to see!

Looks as though another unit is coming across tomorrow. I wonder if they're trying 010 again before they send it via Scotland.

I see they're sending it through Skipton. I highly doubt a Scotland run will happen as the 331's are not cleared up via Edinburgh.

I'm more interested to know how 333006 is getting on? It's taking a little while to get that unit out.

There was a 5G06 Broughton Road - Neville Hill the other day.Nothing allocated to it but with the headcode I think there is a good chance it was 333006.

333012 appears to be stopped now

It's stopped but not for PIS mods. Just for the corrosion work that every unit is going through.

006 is on Neville Hill now.

Slightly off topic as I’m not sure where to put this but I’ve noticed 6 car 331s (some could be examples due for Yorkshire) on Chat Moss today is this now a regular thing?

37501 with 331010 on 5Q17 Allerton-Neville Hill (this time via Golborne, WCML,Carnforth and Skipton) currently at Edge Hill which is where all previous attempts have got to..........this is the fourth (at least) attempt to persuade 331010 to go east on missionary work. This will complete the moves for this timetable (12 units for 10 diagrams).

Thanks for the gen - I'm hoping to coincide with it coming down Airedale later.
