After 5 months, the speed restriction has been removed. After so long driving at 20mph, I had to really think how to stop at Forest Gate after travelling at line speed. Lol.

Did there have to be a special possession for the TSR removal, or was it done during normal Section 5 windows? Thanks.

I think it was during a planned possession I believe but the lead time was so long, I am unsure. It’s been nearly 12 months!

I'm not sure, but it was a two track railway between Maryland and Ilford/Romford for most of Sunday and they were busy working on it during all of my shift.

Do you ever get to use the main (fast lines) I remember once I was on a 378 which ran non stop Norwood jct to New Cross Gate partly on the fasts. Very rare.

Trains do regularly use the mains, in the early morning and late at night. During disruption, trains might run non-stop in certain locations (e.g. Stratford to Romford) which might involve a main line routing.

Yes. I was on nights recently and was on the mains (stopping at all stations) from Shenfield to Liverpool Street. It was nice to stretch the 345 up 90mph in places.

As you say, very rare in public service. I cant remember the last time I did in the East side.
