Points failure between Hazel Grove and Buxton yesterday

Does anyone know where the failure was.
There were no trains between the two yesterday but there was an advertised train in the evening to Furness Vale

The failure was at Buxton. I believe Network Rail found quite considerable damage which took several hours to fix

Possibly problems at Hazel Grove as well as EMR and TPE were apparently also affected earlier in the day. Might have been a separate incident though. Anyone able to confirm? Incident was reported as cleared at 21:13 and it does look like late evening services between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton did resume.

So why did they stop at Hazel Grove? They could have run to Furness Vale where there is a cross over

Is that crossover serviceable? No idea myself unfortunately!

Its not a signalled move back to Hazel Grove. The shunt signal is only to go back towards Buxton. Presumably they needed a MOM/LOM to sort it on the ground.

I believe so. I drink with one of the Furness Vale signalmen and, a couple of weeks ago, he told me that he had used it. And been very nervous about doing so.
