If I had £154m I would do the following;

Order a fleet of Desiro's to replace the 90's on London - Norwich services.
Go on a 2 week holiday
Give some of it to my family

Use about half of it to drum up a business plan to bid for East Coast, so I could restore it to the service quality it had when GNER had control, only I would call it LNER, and the trains would be painted a nice combination of Garter blue and Marlborough blue...
Sponsor the new GCR bridge at Loughborough, on the condition that I would be allowed to be in the first locomotive to cross it.
Sponsor the "unrebuilding" of a Merchant Navy, I've always wanted to see one air-smoothed

For the rest, a private aircraft, preferably a Harrier T12. And some specialist flying lessons so that I could fly it myself.
If there's any change left over, I'd like a decent-sized wooden sailing yacht with gaff rig and a retractable keel

With Euromillions jackpot now estimated to reach £154m for the next draw, record numbers of customers are expected to get a ticket.

So....

What would you do with £154m??

(Interest monthly would be around £500,000 according to some sources).

I know people say charity etc, but I would probably donate the interest to charity, and keep the capital £154m and buy several companies within the rail industry.

Buy 154,000,000 lottery tickets. Or invest it in Rangers FC, every last penny.

Brought my lotto ticket for it earlier today :)

Well for my family we have agreed who ever wins it split it 4 ways, then do what we like.

Only thing i know what to do so far is cars :s A Jaguar XKR-S (Just looks brillant in light blue and black alloys) And an 'Sensible' so something like a Range Rover :) since would want large amount of land and need to use one :)

House though rather in the Low lands in Scotland near Edinburgh or somewhere in the West Midlands also though would love to see one of two complete ME410's fly again what is based in the RAF Museum in Cosford and maybe also get the Arado 234, Donier 335 Pfiel and the Horton GO-229 back from America to Europe.

Start an Airline ;)

I'd like to start a TOC, maybe we could form a joint partnership. You do the flights, I'll get the passengers to the airport. Obviously, I'll have to start a company good enough to wipe the floor of the Gatwick Express. :)

£160million now!

And also a new rule...

The EuroMillions jackpot can grow to a maximum of 185 million Euros - depending on the exchange rate, this will be around £167 million†.

Once the jackpot has reached its maximum of around £167 million† it will remain at that amount until a lucky player matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers.

Any additional prize money above £167 million† will be shared between the winners in the next prize-winning level in that draw, as specified in the EuroMillions Game Procedures.

Don't think that is a new rule - just that it has never been needed before.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
I'd help Altrincham FC get out of &^%$ creek :D

It does seem a pity that they are no longer in the Conference, as they would have had a really good local derby with Stockport County, this coming season.

Still, there are derby matches of a lesser calibre to be looked forward to this season at Stalybridge Celtic, Droylsden and Hyde.

1. Become a majority shareholder in First Group with a seat on the board of directors.

2. Push forward the need to either refurbish the 313s or replace them.

3. Extend operational hours of the NCL.

4. Upgrade the entire Hertford Loop ie signalling, loops, platforms etc...

5. With DfT and TfL permission, restructure the Inner and Outer Suburban timetables for FCC by using more use of the bays at Gordon Hill and by terminating the existing Letchworth at Hertford and introducing a half hourly frequency to Cambridge and Peterborough like WGC enjoys which would be fast from Finsbury Park then Hertford followed by all stations to the destination.

6. Finish off the station refurbishment such as CCTV, vending machines etc...including a new lift at Hertford and replacing the lifts at Stevenage.

8. Give myself a higher salary which ties in with item 1.

7. Enjoy a holiday in Spain with a stunning Senorita as my assistant.

With the interest alone, I'd go door-to-door paying off money that people owe for the first week.

In the second week I'd advertise for staff, pay off their owed money and start a company, not for profit, calling round helping people with their money. Imagine reducing the debt of this country, back to zero. It'd be a real game changer for the financial system. I'd also buy debt from banks, card companies, etc and write it off. All of this would come with a condition of "Try not to do this again. Everybody gets one"

I'd also ensure my fiancee and I had the wedding of our dreams, pay off my friends and family's owed money, share the wealth and try not to lose my mind!

You have my full backing on this. I'm an ugly Englishman, but if you someone to hold the fort while you are away, I'll do it.

Well i'd buy a Class 60 and 37 670

Think youll be spending most of that just trying to get 670 to work again...let alone a 60!

I know what id be doing with the money if any of my family were to take a fair amount:

Bank It

Interest to various charities including the RNLI, Cancer Research, Wooden Spoon, Matt Hampson Trust, Naomi House, Operation Smile and the Fire Fighters Charity...

Get myself a full years London Irish Season ticket & sponsership deal

Move house - not some big fancy country manner though! Out of town yes, but a nice old country farmhouse would do!

Gloucestershire Warickshire Railway - Chicken Curve sorted, extention through Broadway & onto Honeybourne - with the potential to look at extending up to Stratford Racecourse!

Great Central Railway - Briging The Gap Fund...

New car - VW Passat or Audi A6...

Then id consider recreating a piece of history missing from the preserved railways - The XP64 Set {Purchase & restoration of Rivera Trains 47853 & the remaining XP64 Coaches, possibly including the creation of a late 1960s / 1970s Western Region rake, consisting of BR Blue Grey Mk2s & If possible, a overhauled and repainted BR Blue Grey Gresley Buffet! (Shock Horror for those who like Teak!)

Possibly including the preservation of 1 or 2 80 Class - CDL Fitted, Change the bogies over here, overhaul & repaint into possibly the original NIR Livery, or BR Blue Grey - Though Blue Grey would probably go better on a 450!

And several Surfboards!

To be honest though, they say Money brings you Happiness - well yes in one way, but id rather not over use it - id rather feel happier the way i am, just without the worry of money on my mind, and safe in the knowledge that say more disavantaged kids across the uk can have fun playing rugby, more lifes could be saved through better treatments for cancer, more kids both across the uk can smile / look better / feel better about themselves without having a Cleft Lip & Palet, more firefighters are safe, and quite frankly the UKs most Underated heroes...Sod that of Help For Heroes - personally i feel the goverment & the MOD Should be really paying out for that!

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution - People who, for absolutly nothing, go out in all seasons, come ran & force 4 winds to wall to wall sunshine, to save the lifes of people at sea...

So, have to admit, thats where my money would be going...

Almost getting rather emotional as i type that!

:)

£154 million? I'm working towards that. ;)

My list is endless, but most importantly with just £100 million I would get £80000 a month in interest on a conservative estimate of 2% per annum and paying 50% tax on that and I think I can live off that and never touch that capital again.

1) Get a mortgage for a house half-decent. (Why would I need a big house?)
2) Give a monthly donation to a charity who helped me years back.

And I still have £54 million to burn, which I would use to:

1) Buy AFC Bournemouth off the tit Mitchell (probably a couple of mil) and buy back the ground (5 million?). I know the twit will be getting massively more than what he paid for the club (zilch) but I will be happy in the knowledge that I have someone trustworthy in charge, me.
2) Give some of my closest friends half a mil each to help them along. (That'll cost another few mil.)

I will still have about £40 mil left to burn without having to touch the capital of £100 mil. Man, spending is hard.

If they did have a heart attack, can they put it back in the pot and offer it again?!

What a ridiculous amount of money for one person to win! If it was just one person, I wonder what they'll do with it?

Keeping anonymous would be a good idea, and under the current circumstances, I doubt any paper would dare try and find out who it is by using any dodgy means!!

I doubt many people will care so much about relatively minor exchange rate fluctuations as this winner!

I'm not jealous of them or anything, but TBF that amount of money is just ridiculous. I'm no Communist, but I would rather see that split up into equal portions of ten (£15.4m each). No one could possibly have a use for £150m+, unless they give 3/4 to charity or invest it in a sports club!
