And the run today from Old Dalby to St Pancras was cancelled.
What did I say?! When will things just start to go to plan…

That path was never planned to be used today for the driver training runs.

It is running Old Dalby to Bedford first, the. Various other paths today.
So, it is going to plan today.

Oh good. Hopefully I’ll see it out and about later. Fan of the livery though, just hope they keep these clean!

I think it’s actually the best livery carried on the 8XX fleets. It’s simple but looks classy.

So 5Q43 15:18 off STP is cancelled but a fair chance 5Q45 18:03 off BDM will be running?

Saw them swap ends at Leicester to go back south - it looks great, only thing I noticed was the differentiation between 1st and standard is not very clear so boarding will be fun. The text is a silvery decal near the door saying ‘First Class’ but not very obvious at all. Other than that it looked spot on!

The driver training started last week using a different unit at Old Dalby, using the test track there.
This weeks paths will be first on the Midland Mainline for EMR drivers (or managers).

A source has confirmed it’s not drivers or instructors, so likely managers or training school people. Nevertheless, a good step forward.

I like them aside from the seats in some of them. And the EMR ones really do look slick.

Agreed. I wasn’t sure about the bronze front on paper but it looks superb in the flesh.

It is Driver train the trainer! So they are drivers!

Obviously they are drivers but not “regular” EMR drivers or driver instructors - that has been asked and answered internally. There’s still no agreement with ASLEF as yet, and no training course in place.

Managers, training school people, as stated several times. Clearly getting them skilled up has to happen before a wider training program can commence.

Academy staff on it this week for sure, I saw them but not sure what actual drivers were on board, I only saw GBRF drivers for the brief time I was near the unit.

So after all of the excitement about these paths being used for actual crew training, it is just for training of trainers?

Yes, but that is the start of crew training, you have to train the trainer before you can train the crew.

I would class "crew training" as being the training of people who are actually going to work on the trains every day. I would class training for those who are going to train the crew as more akin to "train the trainer" but eh ho. Everything has to start somewhere
