Nadal is fine. His left foot appears not to be as seriously injured as first thought and he will play in Wednesdays's quarter finals.

Thanks for that, Matt. It just seemed a wasted day, but on consideration, especially during hot and dry weather, the court must suffer surface degradation during the first week of play.

You could also look upon it as being tradition - players still have to wear all white, ballboys / ballgirls must blend in with the background, the Royal Box - therefore Sunday, with tradition, is a day of rest

Indeed we have this plastered all over every paper and TV channel today. With topless pictures of his physique to demonstrate it (accompanied by Judy Murray's grinning mugshot). Dunno why but I find it irritating. . . maybe its because I have the perfect sporting body myself . . for darts, and snooker.

Well, we now have a Ladies Singles final that will have "loud shrieks" at every shot by one of the players to ensure that no-one can "nod-off" during the match.

Watch the Press say 'The Scot is out' when Nadal pummels him later, like McIroy winning the Golf recently, the press consider them 'British' when they're winning only, which is pathetic. Nothing against Murray btw, but I just don't see him winning.
Personally I haven't watched Wimbledon since 'entertainers' like McEnroe and Connors packed up, the 'theatrics' then were as good as the tennis, trust me...

Personally I haven't watched Wimbledon since 'entertainers' like McEnroe and Connors packed up, the 'theatrics' then were as good as the tennis, trust me...

I will never forget the match when Connors was playing McEnroe in a Centre Court match and McEnroe was having one of his "moments" when two line calls went against him and at the end of that particular game when they went back to their chairs, Conners turned to McEnroe and said "You behave yourself, when you play here". The comment was clearly heard all over the media and seemed to shock McEnroe. Not forgetting that Connors was "no angel" when things were looking bleak for him, so that added more emphasis to the comment.

As I write, Nadal is giving Murray a battering. He leads two sets to one. At the start of Set 1, Murray was on fire, but Nadal has turned it around, played some amazing shots and fully deserves his lead. Lots of shots going out from Murray.

I've stopped watching, but I can hear my Dad cheering when Nadal wins a point downstairs! Mr Murray is not popular in my household for various reasons, though I don't mind him. It's the slow motion close ups on his mother I can't stand.

When I started this thread off, I knew what was going to happen and I'm correct yet again. Tennis is so predictable and boring. The BBC must need their heads examing showing this rubbish as much as it does. Roll on Sunday so it's out of the way for another year!

Centre Court always seems to be a sell out. I'm not a massive tennis fan or follower, the only event I watch is Wimbledon from the quarter final stage and onward, though it can be quite exciting when you've got Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djovokic scrapping it out in front of the masses. Britain has many promising tennis stars, Laura Robson for instance.

I agree. I was pleased for Djockovic to fulfill his goal and make it to top spot in the rankings, but I think Nadal is the complete player and by far the best man on court right now. His serve, his shots, his slices, they all add up to make a five star candidate, and a player who I feel will easily surpass the Grand Slam record that Federer recently set. Best of luck to both of them on Sunday.

Yes, an excellent analysis of Nadal's skills. He will take a lot of beating. But I think that Djockovic is the only man that realistically has a chance against him at the moment.

Here's something for the Scots who are perhaps annoyed Murray didn't make it to the final.
