Hi all. I am aware there are several threads worth of discussion about this route in general, but can't find the answer to that which I refer now, so would welcome comments from those with a better memory than I;
Given the shortish length of route and the 47/7's having had a second fuel tank added for these diagrams, would I be correct in thinking that the diagrams involved a short (11-13 ish mins) turn round at both Edinburgh and Glasgow. This would be natural thinking from BR at the time, given the economic climate back then, but for a more resilient timetable it could have been the case that a longer overlapping turn round (41-43 ish mins) could have been in place at one end, with the the obvious increase in locos and sets.
I know ScR had 12 x 47/7 in those early days, but my understanding is that reliability wasn't that good given the intensity of the diagrams, so does suggest short turn rounds at both ends was the norm.
Any confirmation or otherwise very welcome. TIA.
